Original or mod AK 5500 with matt black dial?
I love the matt black dial of this one:
https://alexpig.com/products/1987-ro...-box-and-paper The seller claims the watch is fully original, however I am surprised to see a 1987 9.5 million series coming with a matt dial and with a 7835 folded links bracelet with 357 endlinks. I know the seller has an excellent reputation and I don’t want to unduly question this. But even if the dial and the bracelet are authentic, I am not sure they are original for this watch, although I am happy to stand corrected. As I am contemplating the watch specifically for its matt dial, I would like to be certain that upon service RSC will accept the matt dial as original. Any thoughts? Thanks. Alternatively, I am wondering whether the dial of this 1968 looks original: http://www.chrono24.be/rolex/air-kin...-id5884626.htm The lume dots may look a bit unusual? The watch will need to be fully serviced, but if the dial is any good, this may be an option. Thanks again! |

I would really value your opinion so please allow me to come back on this one despite the lack of reactions to my initial post.
As I said I am surprised to see a claimed 1987 9.5 million series coming with a matt dial and with a 7835 folded links bracelet, so the case / dial / bracelet combination is probably not original. But back then swapping dials was not totally uncommon and this black dial may be an authentic replacement Rolex dial (or not...). Actually I like this dial so much that I would be prepared to buy the watch just for that. But then I would need to be certain that the watch is not messed up. And most importantly that the dial is fine and authentic. Well this is where I would appreciate your opinion. Many thanks in advance :-) BTW the link is: https://alexpig.com/products/1987-ro...-box-and-paper |
