Sky Dweller comfort
First off, I have been fortunate enough to have acquired the new ss Sky-Dweller and the new SD43. I don't want to come off as ungrateful. I love the blue dial of the Sky Dweller and find the watch very impressive overall. However, I find it not as comfortable as the SD 43 if doing any activities. It is fine sitting at a desk, but even when taking a walk it starts to just "feel" heavy and not as comfortable. It is starting to remind me of why I traded in my Milgauss. I guess I forgot as they are similarly proportioned. Thoughts on why the SD would be more comfortable? Can it simply be the glidelock? The overall balance? The weight and thickness are similar.

The bracelet width on the SD is perfection and that creates comfort!

TBH, I had the PM version and found it very awkward feeling on the wrist. It was a "tweener" for me.

Is the caseback very convex? This can be an issue for me, and why I find the flat-backed Tudor heritage line so comfortable to wear.

Maybe a photo of them side to side on your wrist so its easy to start solving the problem. They have the same bracelet width.

You sure about that? The SD43 is 22mm at the lugs and tapers down but stays pretty thick down to the clasp. I thought the sky d was 21mm with a thinner clasp.

Strange, I find the Sky D more comfortable than my old Sub C. I'm certain the SD43 would really bother me. I didn't find much use for the Glidelock but I find I use the easy link a lot on my Sky D as some times the watch can feel tight. I like the quick adjustment it gives.

I own a PM Sky Dweller and the new SD43. Both watches are comfortable but the SD43 is perfect for my wrist. I also think that the more time I spend with a watch on my wrist the better it works for me.

Different wrist shapes play into this, so you'll never find concensus amoungest owners.
I have a flat 7" wrist and find the slightly convex case back helps to balance the watch. The new bracelet size is perfection IMO, and of course the glidelock can't be beat. Taking nothing away from other references, I will say that for me, the SD43 is the most comfortable watch I own. |
