Key West

I'm taking a trip to Key West and would like to buy my wife a Rolex while we are there. Is there an AD there? If so, any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you're driving from Miami go to Bal Harbor Rolex Boutique. Pick one it and DSW get it for you.

I go down the the Keys and Key West often... I don't believe there is a AD down there.... I love the Keys but I don't buy high end jewelry or watches there... Most of the shops are for tourists and cruise ships.... I agree with THC, stop by DavidSW in Orlando..

Enjoy your trip, JIM

Pan Am started in Key West. Kelly's (McGillis) Caribbean Bar & Grill currently occupies the site of their first headquarters. There is a sign on the outside and a couple of long neglected display cases on the inside. If you are into GMTs, it might be worth wandering by. It's only a block of Duval.

Approixmately 40 minutes north of Key West, Blue Marlin Jewelers is an authorized AD and really good people. I have only bought one watch from them but can recommend them and their staff who are focused on customer service.

Thank you all for the feedback. I'm a huge DavidSW fan. Bought a few watches from him. But as this will be my wife's first and only Rolex, I thought it'd be fun to do the whole AD experience and have it sized on the spot. Also we are flying direct to Key West.

There's no AD in Key West. Make sure you grab a Cuban Sandwich & a cafe con Leche from Sandy's Cafe while your there!

I live in Key West. We do not have an AD although there are a few jewelry shops that do sell second hand. We do have Little Switzerland, which is an Omega and Breitling AD. I bought a Breitling and my wife's Tag from them. Good people! As far as Rolex AD, Blue Marlin is the closest.

Interesting...thanks for sharing. I'd really like to see the new Railmaster in person. No Omega dealers in our area.

Another recommendation for Blue Marlin in Islamorada -- Michelle is terrific as are other staff. She adjusted my Rolex bracelet for me when I was in the Keys. It's a nice jewelry store as well as AD "across the street" from World Wide Sportsman/Bass Pro shop (great Zane Grey bar upstairs along with outdoor bar/restaurant bayside -- and Hemingway boat to view/step into on first floor). If you're interested, let me suggest you google and doublecheck locations but I think both are at/near mile marker 80 or 82.

None on Key West, but you can take the Key West Express Ferry to Ft Myers, rent a car and head up into St Pete/Tampa area. The ferry from the Keys back to mainland runs late afternoon but you can make an evening/ next day of it.

There are two ADs in Naples, about an hour south of where the ferry lands.

One in Sarasota about an hour north, and three in Tampa area.

We love taking the ferry as opposed to driving to the Keys, and imho I prefer the ADs on the gulf side of the state as more ads in a smaller distance means more competition. The AD in Lutz, Florida is my favorite, they're about 2 hours north of Ft. Myers and I stop in when I'm in the Tampa area.

May be a bit of planning on your behalf but a nice timepiece should have a story of how you acquired it, it's something to last a lifetime and a good story makes it that much more memorable.

You're spot on. If it's her first, a "good" AD experience would would be worth an extra buck or two. I'm sure you're aware that most ladies models can be bought at a good discount. Have great time and happy shopping!

I live in Key West, no AD here, but welcome to our beautiful island town! Blue Marlin is the closest AD (and only one in the Keys) in Islamorada, about 80 miles away. Very knowledgeable and courteous sales staff there. Beyond that, there are at least a half dozen in the Miami metro area.

This is exactly the reason for buying it while on vacation. Thanks for the thoughtful response.

Thanks for pointing that out about good discounts on women's models. I was not aware of that!

Excellent post and so true. They drop in value dramatically, try to get the best deal possible. But if she wants the AD experience nothing you can do. I under stand DSW has a showroom now for future information and ladies watches might be 40-50% off an AD price. I know my wife liked the AD experience the first time but now it's "show me the discount."

Check them out downtown by the Margaritaville Hotel. I don't know if they have one in stock, but they have a great stock of Omegas and Breitlings. It's always fun to stop in and window shop!

I remember there being a jewelry store with pre-owned Rolex but no AD. Maybe take her to your local AD right before the trip?

Have fun. What the other have said about the Islamorada AD. Definitely very nice and pleasant but don't expect any deal from them.

You won't see many Rolex in jewelry shops, like others have said there is only 1 AD.

Keep an eye on people's wrists though! Rolex watches are everywhere on the keys. Every other guy is wearing a Sub.
