Here we go again...just like the David Beckham and Tudor thread. Why the hate?

Guess it bothers you she's a successful artist...with millions of albums sold and millions in the bank? Guess you're better than that?

Anyways if she's brings the brand more coverage with a newer audience, then what's the issue?

She will likely open the brand up to a whole entire new crowd.

Genius move by Tudor imho.

As much as Rolex is trying to keep with tradition, they know full well that they need to play the "Omega Game" and Tudor is the brand to to do that with.

I might be off and it is 7AM here, but that's how I see it.

That's s a great advert. I hope it brings more sales for Tudor, I believe the younger crowd follows her so maybe when the read up on Tudor they see a relationship to Rolex and they can realize it's a bit more affordable.

And the The Red Black Bay is perfect for it. I don't particularly listen to her music but millions do

EDIT: should've just +1 to Seth

Isn't a significant portion of her demographic teen girls? How does that translate to expensive watches?

She's a world wide artist, very successful and not to only teen girls. Rolex markets to women of all ages and maybe that's what Tudor is trying to market as well.

I'm sure males like her music too. She's puts on fantastic shows in many countries and I bet she has a wide range of follwers if she has Instagram. Probably many 20-30 age group, with great careers with extra spendable cash and this will be a slam dunk for Tudor I think. Tudor Black Bay watches come in various colors which could be great for women mostly to accessorize clothing. That's my take on this.

And as for men that's might be the cherry on top.. great move IMO

I'd be inclined to think the opposite if I were you.

Raising the profile of the brand to the unknowing would be a good thing for the value of your watches.

Look at Rolex. One of the reasons the new Daytona is so expensive and hard to come by is because the celebs cottoned on to them. It has a trickle down effect from the rich folk at the top that will just say "I want, don't care about the cost" It sucks if you are looking but I bet owners who have bought at retail aren't complaining.

I understand Tudor's objective more than Lady Gaga.... being a watch brand ambassador does not seem to jive with her persona.

As much as there is an attempt to hide snobbery towards watches in the "fashion watch" category, you must admit it is still prevalent.

Fashion watches are in my opinion, vastly inferior compared to the likes of Rolex, Ap, Vc, Pp etc if one values quality craftsmanship.

However, what fashion watch brands of the likes of Daniel Wellington are doing which established watchmakers with horological history behind them arn' t, is reaching out to the next generation.

You wonder why it is becoming exceedingly rare to encounter millennials with a passion for horology. The simple answer is that the brands we have grown to love and admire aren't reaching out towards them.

Rolex have finally realised this and are attempting to attract a new generation of watch enthusiasts. Rolex is brand carefully marketed to be associated with glitz and glamour. Tudor on the other hand, whilst still being a quality watch, is the perfect stepping stone. Ignite a passion for watches in young people who may potentially go for a Rolex later on.

Just like when the quartz revolution hit, Rolex is again adapting.

You're right about the fan mix. Maybe not so much on the perception. Her market demo shows about 40% of people have a negative reaction to her, and about 30% are neutral. With only 30% in the positive bucket, she doesn't seem like the optimal brand ambassador.

Can't say I disagree, certainly there were more viable candidates.

Excellent Adam. I hope they kill the market with this. I honestly believe that my Tudor Watch is most excellent and so happy I bought one. Although I bought pretty much right when they came out and paid 1/3 more then there're selling for now. I think at the price they are selling for now is an absolute steal.

My ETA is fantastic so far.. the leather is top quality and was lucky to get a really nice one with great grain look. It's on a bracelet now that I paid to much for but I'm happy to have both. Long story short. I over paid for everything it but it was worth it.

Now all I need is the right spring bars as they weren't available at Wynn AD but he put in after market ones.

Now where's my SS Turn o Graph white dial with jubilee bracelet. I just fell in love this week 😍

In this video she displays deep intelligence and integrity. She is far more than a pretty face/singer, she is a very powerful role model.

I might say the same about Beckham, especially in the United States. But whatever, I love my Tudor and believe there're doing a great job. Look, any time you have a polarizing celebrity pushing a product whose filthy rich your going to have factions that like them, didn't care or don't like. The 2 celebrities are well known world wide so again I think it's a brilliant move for Tudor.

I'm have no clue where you found your statistics or care or if it's just the U.S. but world wide people are nuts for these 2 ambassadors. I might go out and buy a new Tudor now Rolex/Tudor are a mystery with the decisions but if we could buy stock we'd all own a boat load IMO.

There are plenty of other reasons not to like a celebrity than jealousy of their success or money!

If success is the only reason, in your opinion, someone may dislike famous people are you trying to say they are otherwise perfect in every way?

I am happy and appreciate that Justin Bieber earned his success from scratch. I recently saw a picture of him wearing an AP watch and was disappointed. Not because I don't want to wear the same watch as a successful person but because I don't want to wear the same watch as someone with his personality

Great move by Tudor,,,,
like it when Lady gaga turns up unannounced in London and plays a couple of "secret" free gigs for her fans,,,,
not many do that these days,,,jay

This. From what I've read, the Lady Gago alter ego is just that, a guise. She's an intelligent person with great gifts.

Lady Gaga is ok with me. When she performed with Tony Bennett, it really showed a classy side of her.
If it was Justin Bieber....... Just kidding.

Not sure that I agree with any of this. First, I assume that for some the appeal of a Tudor is in its "under the radar" persona. Now it seems they are poised to be very much on the radar for a broader audience. It's a bit like underground music that suddenly becomes mainstream, at the cost of its core followers. That's how I interpreted the original post that you referenced anyway.

Regarding your Daytona comments, I also have to disagree. The Daytona insanity isn't ambassador or celebrity driven, unless you go back to the original Paul Newman. As for its cost, at MSRP its not really that out of line with any other marque chronographs. The markup is driven by the average Joe, not the uber rich- simple supply and demand that Rolex continues to masterfully manipulate.

Full disclosure, I'm neither a fan of the Gaga or the Tudor, but I can understand where some might be less inclined to view this association favorably.

I'm not sure how I feel about Lady Gaga as I think her crowd wouldn't be an "expensive watch" crowd. Let's see how this plays out.

I'm pretty sure most adults know that James Bond isn't real - or that buying a sub then (or an Omega now) doesn't make you an international man of mystery
