Zenith Daytona white gold or stainless help needed
Hello all, I posted this mistakenly in the vintage discussion before.
I'm stretching my budget but would love some general advice in making a decision about my first Rolex. Without discussing price which I believe is prohibited Here I have always loved the zenith based stainless steel white face Daytona. I am strictly look at lower end price wise and under $15k. Lately I haven't seen many stainless in that range. Today I found a really nice white gold zenith based Daytona with Rolex leather strap and deployant clasp from a local antique dealer in excellent condition at less than . I do still prefer the brushed lugs of the Daytona but this was a really nice piece and priced lower Han most stainless models. My main question is whether from desirability and safe investment standpoint is the white gold Daytona with strap a poor choice even if less costly that a stainless model with bracelet . I'd appreciate your thoughts. |

I like the white gold but if it is priced less than a steel one you have kind of answered your own question in regards to a desirability and investment standpoint. Stick to your guns and either stretch your budget to a steel Zenith, go with a 116520, or 116500. All could be touched south of 20K.

Meaning it will cost you an arm & leg now but it a safe investment... Just look at the history of all Daytona..... PM Daytona Zenith with strap, price wise is not going anywhere.... TT Daytona Zenith price wise move better than the PM Daytona with strap..... IMHO it best to go with the SS Daytona 116520 since it in your price range plus it a safe investment....

I dont believe the answer above is accurate as 16518s have jumped at least $1000 in the past few months.
I'm just going to say it, rolex bracelets don't always hold up as well as the watch itself. So buying the strap version made a lot of sense. Especially when you consider there are few professional models on leather straps and a wide array of at least half a dozen strap options available at reasonable prices from rolex. I would go with the strap zenith, the dials are just stunning. |

He looking for a safe investment..... The price is not going anywhere, what I mean is: "The percentage of when buying new & selling it later, compare to SS, TT, PM, and PM with strap"..... I remember the PM with strap retail price is about $13,000 brand new.... The last time that I check a used one can be had at about $14,000 to $15,000...... Maybe time change...... Please correct me if I'm wrong.....

White Gold over SS 100% of the time because:
1. Its 18K Gold 2. Its 18K Gold 3. Its 18K Gold 4. Its 18K Gold 5. The SS is Stainless Steel.

TT Daytona zenith retail @ $6,800 in 1994... For the same watch today market, they are going for $10,000 to $12,000 depending on condition & full set or not... Percentage of the appreciation, the TT zenith is better than the PM zenith with strap...
