Day-Date 40 - WG or RG?
First-time poster here. Am ready to upgrade my DJII to a DD40 and have been circling like a vulture around either the 228235 or 228239 -- I frankly am torn between the WG or RG. Would greatly appreciate the group's thoughts. For some context:
1) I am 33 and an investment banker (read: client service, more on that in a bit). 2) my other three watches are: PP 6000G (my main work watch), PP 5167 (weekend watch) and IW500107 (when i'm feeling "blue") My conundrum mainly stems from: a) The RG is deep down my favorite. The Rolex rose gold is pretty special b) I worry that I can't really wear my RG to work, and especially to client meetings c) On the other hand, the WG sure feels a whole lot like my steel DJII. Many thanks in advance for any thoughts you may have on offer! |

Go with rose gold. It's gorgeous. I just acquired a yellow gold DD40. I'm 38 and an attorney. None of my clients care much about my watch; yours likely won't either.

I don't have any first hand experience in your industry, but I think the WG is a better fit for your intended use. Can't go wrong with either.

For me it was really more skin tone than anything else. I have a tan Asian (or just call me yellow) skin tone and as much as I liked the rose gold, I just couldn't pull it off correctly....so I did the white gold. On the other hand, my wife has very fair skin and she rocks rose gold spectacularly.....so definitely try and see what you think IMO....it's extremely subjective.

If RG is your favorite, why are you considering the other one?

Of the choices you offer, WG. I'm in a similar business, and 25 years older than you. Yellow gold just isn't my style, I'm a low profile person as respects my appearance.

Go with your favorite RG. It's brilliance and shine in various light condition is fantastic. Moreover, it can hide under your sleeve as it is not that big nor thick.

When I clicked on the title I was all set to tell you get the WG...but, it sounds to me like you like the RG better. So...I'm with Andres, get that one.
You're overthinking it. Go with your gut. |

Although I'd go with the YG or WG as backup, it seems like your heart is set with the RG so go with that one!

I have a WG, I travel for business just about every week. It's a great everyday watch, you can wear it with a suit or with a sports shirt and jeans. It's very understated (and in some circumstances that's what you want) but has a real presence to it.

It's not often a chalk and cheese dilemma comes up.
Skin tone has been mentioned, and that's valid. Stealth's been mentioned, that too is valid. What you really love's been mentioned... Most valid. If this is to be a workday watch - WG has to be the only way, especially in the service industry. However, in reality this comes down to your personality. A great analogy would be. Your son graduates with a First from Harvard University. Who do you tell? Close friends and family - WG. Anyone who will listen - RG. Hope this helps. The closest I get to RG is on a TT Turn-o-Graph and A Tridor, but these are only partitially RG. Regards |

Day-Date 40 - WG or RG?
Question you need to ask yourself is this:
If a client sees you wearing a RG Rolex is he or she tempted to think that... 1. I'd trust my money with him as clearly he's making the right investments ...OR... 2. This is some Boiler Room scammer who will milk my money dry? A to your Q: RG / YG. Otherwise stick with your DJ lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Everyone, including your clients, knows investment bankers are highly paid. Go for the RG. It will not be a big deal.

Day-Date 40 - WG or RG?

I'm an engineer with an MBA working in O&G and PowerGen. I did some google search and I do stand corrected. Thanks for calibrating me mate. But then my question is, even if everyone knows they are paid well, would a client's perception be that this bank will charge me high interest etc etc... if the gentleman on the other side is rocking a RG Rolex? Not trying to be argumentative here, just making sure the OP takes all angles into account. If it was me I would rock the RG with green dial LOL. Perceptions are people's realities. I have owned RG, WG, YG and Platinum Rolex watches and they have all been great. My RG was a Daytona and the pictures are great. What was missing was my skin tone and once I owned it did not work as well as YG, WG or Platinum for me. I also match other metals to the watch. Wedding band, cufflinks, belt buckle etc. And when I say the RG is RG it is, especially when you put it next to YG accessories. I would tell you buy what you want but you are obviously beyond that with your collection. I would look to WG as I believe it provides many of the PM benefits without being in your face. Those that know will know. It will not register with others. The green or blue dial would be my choice.

RG would be my choice of the two especially if you are leaning that way. I prefer the more sporty references if you go the WG route.

I chose YG but I would never wear it to work. My next promotion I will probably get a WG with Blue Romans for sure!! Not my pic.
