Travel Pouch

Hi guys,

I recently purchased an OP 114300 blue dial for the girlfriend and she's slowing turning into one of us as a result. I catch her staring at the watch, and yet she doesn't know the time... She has started tracking movement accuracy on a daily basis... And she's already eyeing up accessories... This is a dangerous hobby for one person; I'm not sure our household can support two WIS! ;)

On her shopping list is a case of some sort and she's particularly fond of the Everest Straps watch pouch (for watches with bracelets). Does anyone have any experience with this, the RSC equivalent or similar styled case?

I am particularly keen to hear how the insert (intended to keep metal from touching metal when the watch is folded up in the pouch) works. Is it effective when the bracelet is sized for a small wrist? Do the ends fray with regular use?

I hate buying overpriced accessories, but these do look pretty nice and they're low profile to boot. Looking to you all for suggestions on whether they do a good job.

I just bought a few cheap bathroom sponges from a local Aldi and cut them into the requisite pillow and slot shape. These can then be squeezed into a receptacle of your choosing. No movement during travel and also washable. Agree don't overthink (or overspend in my opinion)

Spectacle cases go well with DIY cut sponge.

& hey, there's often a free polishing cloth in there too!

The Everest pouch is amazing. The quality is way above the pouches rolex gives you after service.

This is important though: the card that Everest provides for you to slip in the bracelet (to prevent the bracelet from scratch the case back, and generally banging around in the pouch) is way too big for my wife's watch to fit around. If you wanted to I supposed you could cut the card but it might ruin the beautiful fabric finish. Not sure what size wrist your Gf has, but it's something to keep in mind.

My wife had a tiny wrist.

I have the Everest pouch and I’m happy with it. I keep my watch in it while playing golf and it works well. It’s very similar to the Rolex service pouch, but I wanted something more understated so I use the Everest.

The insert is a semi rigid leather-clad card. For smaller wrists you’ll have to trim it a bit, which is easily done with a pair of scissors.

Good point. The quality is much better than the Rolex pouch. Also, I did trim mine that you see in those pics. I tried to preserve the rounded corners. It was very easy.

Having a good relationship with my local AD has resulted in my procuring a few of the Rolex "coffins". Perfect while traveling...and didn't cost a dime.

I wrap them in a clean paper towel and place them in a clean zip-lock-style plastic bag. They are visible and protected from ketchup and other condiments in my luggage.

Good news, you will like it for sure! The OEM Rolex Green pouches sell for a lot more than the everest and they're nowhere near as nice. Good choice. See pics below :)

I normally use a rolex pouch with a cut down inner card but for ultimate protection I have one of the Omega service cases with foam inside, zipper and seperate hard plastic outer case. People are selling them as travel cases on ebay but try your local friendly dealer

I have the Rolex green soft leather pouch. Received it from Rolex after one of my Rolexes returned from service. Travel pouch? No I don't so, just advertises what's inside.

I got the soft pouches similar to the Everest off eBay. They're 5 for $19, and they work fine. If I have to cut the insert card, its no big deal.

I never thought about a travel pouch. I'm very old school when it comes to things like this and just stick my watch inbetween my clothes in my carry on unless I'm wearing it.

Omega does the same style of case that Rolex service center and everest do and give them away if you ask nicely. The same goes true for Bucherer and Beyer. Omega also have a stronger case that can double as a case for your sunglasses. Have received several over the years and like them a lot.

Do you use the sandwich size or the snack size? If you are traveling with more than one watch do you pack them in separate bags? Do you ever travel with so many that you have to use the large freezer bags? I like the freezer bags, even for just one watch because it has the double seal, but it also feels like overkill on the size.

Heinz or Hunts ketchup? Heinz for me. But if all that's available is Hunt's I'll still use it. Oh, and when you pack buns, hot dog or hamburger, how do you keep them from getting smashed in a suitcase? I'm thinking I'll just buy buns when I get to my destination from now on. Too many bad experiences...

Go with what you want. My only comment about the everest versus the casebudi is that the casebudi will definitely protect your watch better than the pouch style.

x2 Anything with a flap on the front and allows the watch to move around even slightly is a no no in my book. You want something to keep out the pocket fluff and inevitable grit that magically appears. I hate to sound a tight wad (which I am) but when it comes to storage/travel protection should be your concern over quality and price.

I love this thread! I usually just roll up one of the t-shirts I pack, and put my watch on it ( like it was a fabric forearm) and then wrap it in another shirt.

The pouch is SO MUCH smarter. Heh. I feel like a rube.
