I'm spoiled...I'm having a hard time. Is it just me...?
Well, I have been using the WG SubMariner for the last 2 weeks straight and the feel of the Gold is such that I don't want to go back to SS.
It is the Heft, and the silky feel, and especially the fitment. The Gold, in this case Rolex White Gold, sits a top my wrist and grabs better than the SS Sub. It doesn't slide around my wrist as much as SS and it stays put above the wristbone while being a tick or so looser than the SS. That is really important to me. The SS Sub, requires to be tighter on my wrist than the Gold Sub, in order not to slide down my wrist bone. Then, since it is tighter it is less comfortable. Now, the Gold Sub just hangs on, and that is important so when your moving around the watch doesn't slide down and get pinched when one bends his wrist upward... Is it just me..?

Nice photos, it fits very well on your wrist like you described. Nice problem too, waiting to have my problem of heft too :D
First i considered PM models stupid, triple money for same technology... but... then i put PM model on my wrist. It brings a whole new dimension wearing a watch. I absolutely love the heft.

You are giving the watch to much credit, it is your wrist bone that is uniquely suited to PM Rolexes. Now carry on and don't look back on those SS models as your wrist bone puts you in a position that makes them not suitable for use.
I hope that helps:) |

I know exactly what you mean. I find my BLRO to be better balanced than my LN....but I enjoy wearing both.

For myself the gold Sub and steel Sub wear exactly alike. The gold is just heavier, but not noticeable unless you think about it, which most times I don't. Love wearing either metal.

I haven't yet taken the plunge into the PM pool. Threads like this aren't helping.

That smurf is beautiful... I need to stop buying multiple pieces a year and just make a move towards PM once and for all!

Have to agree:) I am trying to be a two-watch guy at the moment, with one PT and one SS..... the SS isn't getting much wrist time at all! Going to switch it up to PT and WG. That'll do it

Sam, interesting that the material makes that big a difference. I'd wonder about fitment of the bracelet as well.
For me I'm successfully transitioning to a lowered piece count. Right now alternating between two stainless watches. A third in YG would be a possibility as it would greatly reduce its daily appeal and would be great for special occasions. |
