116610LV or 116710 BLNR?

Hi guys,

Long time lurker here, need some advice (maybe some pictures) to help with my decision. I'm in the market for the above, the problem is i just can't decide which one! I'm swaying towards the BLNR as i think that's where my heart is.

I will most likely be paying above retail for both, at least £600 above retail at that. Unless anybody has any contacts? I cannot find these models at any AD whatsoever as i'm sure you're all aware.

I'll be chopping in my current Datejust 116234 for the purchase... This was my first Rolex and my biggest regret is not getting a steel sports model 2 years ago. I was actually in Dubai 2 years ago and tried both the LV and BLNR on, everyday i kick myself as to why i didn't just pull the trigger in the AD.

Thanks in advance

I've had them both. For me it would depend on the usage. If you swim a lot, the Sub, if you cross time zones frequently, the GMT.

Honestly? I don't do either!

I love them both. Maybe i'm slightly scared of my only Rolex being green!

They are both great watches. Here is a photo of both from the web that is one of my favorites.

Yes, I agree with that. In that case I would go with the GMT.

If your heart is with the blnr, then I recommend you get that. I assume you preferred it when you tried on? In which case, that's the one to get.....

I’ve tried on the BLNR a few times, but I just couldn’t pull the trigger... at least I haven’t yet. It took me a long time to buy the 116610LV as I too, couldn’t see myself wearing green. Thing is, it doesn’t seem green to me now that I have one. It’s always changing and I can’t stop staring. They’re both beautiful, so either way, you can’t go wrong.

As my one and only Rolex, BLNR. Add the LV down the line.

I think you've just sold the BLNR to me, it looks absolutely stunning right there.

Mission accomplished! :-)

Truth be told: They both look fantastic in everyday lighting. The blue is bold, but subtle. And the LVc’s green is almost black when viewed indoors.

Enjoy your new GMT Master II. And post pics once it’s all said and done!

Between the 2, I would go for the BLNR. Simply cause green is just not my thing on watches.

You mentioned you don't travel to different time zones, so I am wondering what's the need for a BLNR or even GMT for that matter?

With that said, and against all odds, I would advise you to go with a timeless classic, a SubC LN. Don't pay into the hype for a feature you won't use and don't get an LV as your only Rolex.

That's my advise, but follow your heart.

Can't go wrong either way. I have the BLNR, and the LV should be here any day so I'll likely be making the same decision that you're making.

I fell in like with the BLNR the first time I saw it. I waited about a year to see if I liked it as a permanent member of the watch group. Now, it’s my favorite watch by far. I like green on lawns and tree tops but not on watches. Fortunately, Rolex provides a variety of options.

In my opinion, the Hulk is a ‘Marmite ‘ Watch, you either love it or hate it, I fall into the hate it category I’m afraid!
If you don’ t know what I mean by the Marmite reference, it is a spread with an unusual flavour which divides opinion into loving it, or hating it, so now you know!

116610LV or 116710 BLNR?

Both great watches.
I have the BLNR and am waiting for a call for the Hulk.

I didn't like the green Sub either - until I got one and got the chance to see it in various light conditions. Now I totally love it. :)

I have both, actually got them the same day, popped into Ad where id put my name down for the Lvc, and they had the BLNR in the window!!!!, they told me they expected the Lvc in, in the next week or so.....Dilema, get the Lvc that I had put name on or get the BLNR, put the dilemma on here and was prity much told if you like both, and you can finance it, you'd be foolish to pass on either.......took the advice, the following weekend,as i was transferring money for the BLNR got the call the Sub was in as well. Bit more money moving needed.
Ive only worn the Sub a handful of times as kept it for my birthday (Aug) and keeping the BLNR for Xmas, so not worn it yet.
As an only one depends, Different bracelets, PCL v Brushed, easy link v glidelock, black dial v green, as an only I think id go BLNR....no hang on Lvc....ohhhhh Get BOTH!!!

While the LV is a beautiful watch, it’s just too bright and fashy for me.

I do struggle a bit with the polished center links on the ceramic GMTs, but the dial and bezel and that blue gmt hand are incredible on the BLNR. It’s the next Rolex in my sights.

Totally agree with you. I initially was going to get the SD43, but the pull of the LVc simply is too strong once it’s on your mind.

It quickly has become my favorite SS Rolex as well as my weekend warrior. With two little ones, it can take a beating that my 5712/1a can’t.

I was in the same boat, Lucky enough my AD had both so I got to see them side by side. BLNR is next on my list, but that green in person is mesmerizing. I thought I was set on the BLNR first, but that all changed when I saw the hulk in person !!
