Chisholm Hunter Beauties LOL

Today I spotted these beauties in Chisholm Hunter.

A 116710 at £1300 over list with “collectible” marked on it.

Also an older Sub Date at current list with “new price £9900”

Absolute Jokers lol

Was that in Bromley? I saw the same at the weekend and nearly made the same post.

Sad thing is, I bet someone who doesn’t know any better might pay that.

This is their Glasgow Fort branch.

Their prices and sales tactics never improve over the years. Absolute joke of a company.

Wow. I've seen the sub there but they didn't have that nonsense attached to it. Would be interesting to see what they have to say about it.

Surely stating the RRP incorrectly is a breach of trading standards law?

I’ve chatted to them about wrong RRP and crazy prices. They just shrug it off and essentially say they’re right etc etc.

Now I don’t bother. I’ll never buy from them so avoid the hassle now.

I've emailed them for an explanation. Willfull and blissful ignorance. Surely of the two the sub would be the collectable.

Can’t wait to see the reply......their Glasgow Argyle arcade branch has similar tactics.

At last browse they had a £9995 HULK and an £8995 BLNR on the visit before.

It should be 'collectible' if describing items such as watches.

That RRP on the GMT is a disgrace, real bottom feeders. Why don't these guys ever get robbed?

Collectible? Hmmmmm, i hope they’re fully prepared for the rush of people wanting to start a bidding war on that watch! Count me in. I’ll offer £5.55 pence and not a penny more!

Didn't know a readily available watch still in production could be called collectible!

They assume the buying public know nothing. Virtually all of their watches have no papers. Most are in poor cosmetic condition, and most are BQ Watch wholesale.

I wouldn’t touch one of their watches even at good prices. Paying these inflated prices for these poor examples is crazy.

They also have a shop in the Grosvenor centre in Chester , advertising " collectable " watches . Well worth a laugh if your passing by .

The fourth line of Nairn's original post sums it up "Absolute Jokers"........... even the Grey's in Central London don't get anywhere near those over-inflated prices for watches without papers

Any store can make an isolated mistake, but Chisholm Hunter have form for over-stating their comparison prices on pre-owned Rolex.

Like Nairn, I have complained to my local store - in writing and more than once!

There are consumer protection laws in the UK and the company also belongs to a trade body, the NAJ, on whose new Code of Practice I was consulted. It is absolutely right that Nairn and others highlight these examples; no matter what else happens I will collate them and further submit when appropriate.

Any other UK members with a Chisholm Hunter store near them might wish to take a look and report whether they, too, are making such pricing statements (and pics are always vital!).

As for their level of watch knowledge, what do members make of this? http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...light=chisholm

The Argyle Arcade in Glasgow city centre has a black dials S/S Sky D (new but no stickers and a “spare link” ie sized) for £14,995 or £15,995.

Tried to tell me it was collectable too until I said no, it’s just hard to get.

Came from laings. The seller literally walked around the corner and sold it to CH. He’ll not be getting another one from there.

Do people actually spend that amount of money without any research ? Maybe they do . . .

But I can't imagine this bullshit pays off

For some people that kind of money means as much as $9 to someone else. I wouldn’t put it past anyone. Dealer is just out to make money after all, can’t blame them. If no one pays that price after a long time and he wants to sell, he can only do one thing with the price, and that is lower it.

Response from Chisolm Hunter:

Dear Mr Reilly,

I hope you are well?

Thank you for your email regarding the two pre-owned watches sold in our Glasgow Fort branch.

The Submariner watch marked as price new £9,900 has been an error and we will change this.  The GMT Master II is marked as collectable as it is a highly sought after model not because it is no longer available.

Please let me know if you require any further information

As expected.
116710 Black is a highly sought after model worth £1300 over list? RRP marked as £7500....

Idiots.

So he didn’t make any comment about the 116710LN being advertised with “RRP £7,500” then?

Its RRP is £6,200.

Is it worth an email back to the clowns’ spokesman?

One might also ask him why he puts question marks after statements, as if he doubts himself. He possibly hopes you are well, but isn’t sure?

H

Edit : Nairn and I obviously saw the problem here with contemporary ease!
