If you have just the one watch, why a winder? Just wear it and give it 30 -40 manual winds every couple of weeks and enjoy the watch

Watch winder

I agree. I wouldn’t buy a watch winder unless I had a perpetual calendar and definitely not if I only have 1-2 watches.

That said, I’ve heard good things about Wolf.

If you’re wearing it daily or almost daily then no need for the wonder
If you’re putting it in a rotation with other watches then yes the wolf is a GREAT wonder. I have that very one and it is absolutely perfect!
Congrats on your new watch

Welcome to the world of Rolex. I will also have to agree with other members replies in reference to the need of one.

But I must admit I was also thinking of purchasing one of the Winder's from Wolf as a gift to myself...unknown to me one had been left under our Christmas tree.

But if your really tempted the lowest cost i found for a single winder is £165 without the front cover, But do remember seeing there was a sale offering a 10% or 20% off code on their website (not sure it's still available).

Anyway Congratulations & enjoy your new purchase.

I have a Wolf and love it, but yes if you only have one watch it might not be worth it for you.

As a watchmaker, I hate winders.
Oh well, more wear in a movement means more work for me...

Ha!!

I had one for years and just sold it. Was a Wolf Viceroy triple and had for years. No issue. But just didn’t need it with my current collection.

I have 5 of them, they run on batteries, circa 6 years, and you can put your watchwinder to your safe as many Orbitas are small enough...

Wolf make some great winders but as others have said probably no need for one right now. Enjoy your watch

I have the wolf heritage double winder. Very nice and quiet. I mostly use it for storage. I enjoy setting my watch when it runs out.

The best winder you can buy is your wrist. Put that money toward your next watch.

JQueen on Amazon is a nice and inexpensive winder. Given that you will be owning another Rolex soon, a winder comes in handy.

Hello, everyone.

As a new member on TRF, and on my way to 10 posts before allowing to post pics in a few threads I’d like to share with, I’d like to hear any feedback on winders you may have experience with that double as attractive and visible storage with good LED lighting my wife may love - since she has a few automatics that get rotated during the week/month depending on her day.

We are familiar with and have used various units without lighting such as the inexpensive (and fail often) Brookstoners to the Wolf- but that’s it.

So which winder manufacturer has the nicest lighting - secondary to individual motors and function of course. Individual or up to 4 as long as independent movements and settings.

Thanks everyone!!

~ K

It seems that at least with Scatola del Tempo program 5/12 my Rolexes seem to keep 0,2-0,8s per day time.

I rotate about 4 watches frequently, sometimes i change 2 times per day. And the way Rolex works it seems mostly the parts which are changed in once in a decade service anyway, wear. So does not make that much of a difference.

I have had both orbita and Wolfe. Wolfe was quieter for me but both worked great. If Wolfe, would go for 2.7 models.

Would not it be better to have a programmable winder that does not over wind vs a watch sitting in a case ? I thought it is better for Watch to keep is moving to help with lubrication.

I don't think watch winders are a necessity. Just wind it up when you're ready to wear again.

If you only have 1 or 2 automatic watches, don't bother. Just wear them.

If you have more, I can recommend Scatola del Tempo. They are excellent and I've got three of my watches on mine and it's all programmable to what you need. Pricey, though, if you buy new.

have a wolf 2-watch winder... and a single-watch winder.

stopped using them because I realized I didn't like my other watches just sitting there on my dresser when I am not home.
i'd rather keep the watches-in-rotation in the home safe or, if storing long-term, in the bank safe deposit box.

only watch that really needs winder is the GMTs, like the EXP2.
I hated setting the dates on those. lol
but the rest of my watches are so ez to wind and set, I don't bother with the winder anymore.

if u only have one watch, don't bother.
u are the winder. lol

If the watch runs frequently then there is no issue with the lubricant.
If you wear it 1-2 times a week you are just putting unnecessary wear on the movement that would otherwise not be running.

I'll never understand those that line up to hate on a watch winder. Personally, I absolutely love my Wolf watch winder. It brings me joy. I'm not a big fan of tattoos. It's not my thing. But I don't go to a tattoo related site and tell fans of tattoos how much money they are wasting purchasing something that brings them joy.

This speaks volumes. I was considering one just because they look cool until I read posts like this about unnatural wear. I decided there and then that I want to be the only source of wear and tension on my watches! Also, why has no one come up with a mechanical winder, that itself you have to wind weekly or whatever? Now that would be cool.
