BLNR Blues?

Hi,

Just recently bought a GMT BLNR when I stopped by my AD right before Christmas. It wasn't on my radar since I have the GMT LN but sorta got caught up in the hype (lack of SS watches) and decided to purchase it thinking it will grow on me. Well since then it's been sitting in the box in the safe with all the stickers still on.

Thinking of selling it but still thinking it might grow on me one day and will regret selling it.

Please talk some sense into me!!!

Tom

I think you threw sense out the window when you bought a modern Rolex (non SS Daytona) to keep stickers on and sit in the safe.....At this point I would move on and sell it to someone who's going to wear it. Everyone would be happier.

Are you looking for some sense or looking for “interested” folks to contact you??!!

Not the case. If it was, I would have posted in the "for sale" section.
And if I did decide to sell it, I would not be interested in a couple hundred $$ profit...

Just looking to see if anyone warmed up to it after awhile.

I just did the same thing with an SS sub. Traded it immediately after I couldn’t return it. Got something that made me happy instead. If you don’t smile immediately, let it go!

Take some time and do some reflection. Do you want two GMT's? Do you prefer one over the other? There's no rush, take your time with it. Every now and then get the BLNR out of the safe and put it on (around the house). Then do the same with the LN.

When your head is clear and you know what you want...make your move.

IMHO, I get where you're coming from. I have the GMT LN as well and the BLNR has never been on my radar...it does nothing for me, although I know I'm in the minority by a long-shot.

How do you expect it to grow on you if you have it in the box in a safe?

Get it out, wear and and move your LN!

It’s not growing on you because it’s literally not on you. Get it out of the safe and spend some time bonding with it. Unless your only concern is resale worst case scenario after you wear it and it’s no longer BNIB you will still make out just fine if you choose to sell.

I sold my first one and regretted it. Bought another one. Don't make the same mistake.

Funny, but I kind of felt the same way when I bought mine last year.

It lasted 6 months, and I sold it

Here in the U.K., we visit the AD, have a chat, put our names down on the list and wait and wait for BLNR. And you just turn up, and buy one and then sell it because you don't like it

LOL So true but it's in the safe with all my other watches since I was away on vacation. Might go get it this week.

Don’t peel the stickers off unless you are very sure you’ll keep it.

I do have a really good relationship with the AD having bought tons of watches from them. It was in the back and not on display. I normally swing by once in awhile and ask what they got in the back.

That is called compulsive buyer disease. Once you have it the apetite dies down. I went through the same ordeal a while ago but never bought it because the AD did not have it and I was thankful. You are not alone--tons of BLNR´s trying to be sold off in the classifieds and no joy. Me ? I have decided that what I REALLY like is my 16710 red black so I will wait for Rolex to release the RONR maybe after Basel and will not hesitate to buy that instead.

Nope, none whatsoever. I really tried to like it, but I just never bonded with it.

Remember the movie, Tom? Somebody has to go.Would you prefer Glenn Close over Ann Archer or the other way around? Just make sure there won't be a dead bunny boiling in a pot of hot water....

You bought it for the wrong reasons, but you can make up for that now by wearing it for the right reasons.

I would suggest wear it for a bit and see how you feel with it on. If it doesn't sing to you, or you don't like as you have the LN then just sell it ... someone will purchase it who will enjoy it :)

The BLNR is a great looking watch (I personally love mine)

I’m still scarred from that scene! Think I was too young when I first saw it.

I assume your GMT LN is ceramic? If so, I don’t think you need both and would decide which color scheme suits you better. If it’s a 16710 then I would say wear the BLNR and it will probably grow on you. The more I wear mine the more I bond with it . Same has happenned with other watches I own .

While it is an excellent example from the World of Rolex, I simply have not worn it for some reason. As a result, I'm selling it to a good friend. In the case of the BLNR, I think it was the chase that I enjoyed more the catch...AND no bunnies were boiled. :) Hope that makes sense.

Best,

Scott

I personally don't believe a watch should "grow" on you. I think that when you see it in person and try it on, you should love it. There's plenty of different watches out there, no point in trying to convince yourself you love it because of the hyper surrounding it. I think you'd be much better off selling it and purchasing something that you can't wait to put on your wrist!
