Rose gold for daily casual wear? (5227R)

Hi everyone-

Another one of those threads asking for advice, please bear with me. I am currently debating between the 5227G and 5227R as my next PP. I have always worn either steel or white gold and I once owned a Two Tone GMT II years back. I’m taking a liking to the rose gold Calatrava but one of my main considerations is suitability for daily wear.

Is the rose gold “flashy” in a daily setting? I work in a very casual environment and wear jeans, a short sleeved polo and Oxford shoes to work almost everyday and I’d like to consider myself a very low key guy. I am wondering how the rose gold would look as opposed to say, yellow or white gold.

I have tried on the watch twice at an AD and it seems ok, but with the harsh lights and all I really could not judge how it would look in a “normal” setting.

Any thoughts, inputs and/or photos would be much appreciated.

Thanks

The RG will definitely stand out more, but I don't think it will be too shouty or garish. If anything, I think the dressier styling of the 5227 might clash with casual attire.

actually i find the 5227R rather flexible in terms of what you wear with it. it just goes with everything (except a tuxedo maybe) and is not flashy at all.

Definitely go for the gold for casual wear. I have a handful of gold metals but wear my 5712R and FPJ CS in rose in casual settings almost daily.

Thx for mentioning shoes, because if you said sneakers with those jeans and polo shirt i'd say SS. Yet sounds like upscale casual, so yes RG should be fine in a fashion sense. Also sounds like you have a very low-demand (physically) job (read: not construction worker, roofer, fixing cars, etc), so again RG is fine.

Yes, I work in a Manufacturing company but generally I don’t do much physical work (anymore).

RG is fine then imho. If you have a few different colored dress shoes (std black, tanned leather/brown, etc), might i suggest your acquire leather watch bands to match the color of the shoes. Of course a black strap 'goes with everything', yet i find paying close attn to small details can be key to bringing together a fashion ensemble. JMHO

Enjoy your time :)

Barely any RG on it so depends on if you are a subtle guy or a Gollum shadow-dweller guy.

I was also thinking of that...although the strap on the R is a dark, chocolate brown, still it makes the overall look more formal than the light brown.

i do not think it is too big. that is the frontal perspective in the close up shot.

Well always that s the excuse however i still agree it looks much better on the OP than those pix where the lugs are a mile away from the wristbone

why ?my wrist size is regular and my watches are sub40mm

Ps the fun begins if u go on asian AP forums those guys sporting with 48mm stuffs .... actually respect to the salesclerks they make better job than TS selling the Calatrava cross on the middle east

actually, i was saying this since when i take pics of my (admittedly) small wrist wearing the 5227 it also seems large (on the close-up pics) but almost small on the wrist when i look at it from further away.
