New Hulk?

So, we're about a week away from Basleworld and put some thought into an introduction that could surprise many.

Well for fun, I give you the Rolex Submariner 126610LV Anniversary:

Calibre 3235
Chamfered Case Edge
22 MM Lug width/SD43 Bracelet

That's it, not many changes.

116610LV vs 126610LV

Thanks to Devildog(Scott) for helping make this mock-up

Thoughts? Possible?

Kinda looks like how the current LVc will look in 20 years after a lot of polishing.

The problem is if they Chamfer this model, then they will have to trickle that down to other models. I don’t really see anything drastically different with this version imo.

I think we may see a new GMT or explorer, we have seen new Sub, new Daytona, new YM, new SD, I don't think they would release a new Sub right after the SD, but who knows. I would guess a platinum coke and a ss BLRO??? but with a slimmer case design and new movement?

Nice effort, but I think the super case suits the LVc very well, and puts the focus on the dial, where it should be.

Not a fan of it. It does look like an omega. The maxi case suits the LV really well

Honestly, a watch with the name of HULK should be in a SD43 frame

The chamfered lugs don't go with the sharp edges of the rest of the watch. The Maxi case works for me, anyway.

I know it's a rendering but looks like an overpolished case. Looks better the way it is now.

Wait a minute. Are you saying the Maxi case remains at 40mm with a 22 lug width? The focus of attention should always be on the dial not the oversized bracelet, at 22 the Hulk looks bloated, in other words less sportier less healthier! The 22 size only works for casing designed for =/> 42. I will show you a Steinhart example of a 42 casing with a 22 lug width bracelet. So personally I think Ref 126610LV should ideally be given a 43 case size for a 22

I like chamfers and as I wrote before I can see this and an open caseback etc in the future in an attempt to move the line and brand upscale as the watch market shrinks. Don't think any changes need to be made this year, esp in light of the crazy demand, but these decisions were made a year ago at least so the new movement could be coming now. Would be surprised if anything else changes.

Well not saying it will happen for sure, but the wider lugs combined with chamfered edge case and new bracelet, fix many of the perceived issues with the current Sub. Those mostly being repeated over the years: "bracelet taper off", "too Maxi", less "proportionate". New design example, makes for a seamless transition from the case curves to the bracelet, instead of the abrupt block shape of current. Makes it now more reminiscent of the 5 digit without downsizing nor upsizing the Sub and approaching the SD territory. No way Rolex upsizes Sub now that the SD has a cyclops. Rolex will find a small way to change the design of the Sub to bring back us owners of multiple Subs for another purchase.

I own Maxi case Subs, 5 digit, and 4 and all are great in their own way. I do like the Maxi case currently and find it to show influence from the early 6204/5s

I could see the chamfered edges being added to the next GMT Master, YM 1, and Explorer 2 (if downsized back to 40mm) as well (whenever they may be released). Larger Dive watches continuing without and the Daytona staying as is for a good long while.

Rolex has to make some small changes to get repeat purchasers...

Unnecessary. Perfect as is. Rising values support that conclusion.

I would disagree. Royal Oaks with integrated lugs look pretty darn good. Focus stays on dial here, in reality no different than previous case size, just a more tapered bracelet look. If anything, Rolex increases the size of the Bezel, but not the dial itself...

Rising values could support some other underlying reasons, though I agree, I love it as is. But I do see Rolex perhaps feeling the need to change in an evolutionary manner. If not this year, in the coming years more quickly than in the past.
