Pros...timeless design, historically relevant, extremely versatile to dress up or down, infinite looks available with strap changes that all seem to fit well, bulletproof 1861 movement, comfortable on wrist...list goes on and on.
Only cons I can think of is water resistance and wanting another variant after you buy the professional. |

I love mine...a sapphire sandwich speedy.
Completely agree with what sensui wrote above. It's really comfortable, I find it more comfortable than my Explorer 1 mk2 even though it's slightly heavier and a bit taller than the Explorer. It' also really legible. I wear +2 glasses and I can easily read it without my glasses on. |

Everyone should own one at some point. There is something above the watch. Lots of pros cons are.....hesalite crystal scratches easy.

Of all the watches considered iconic, the speedy pro is probably closest to the original.
Always a great watch to have in a collection. Plus it looks great on straps as well. Opens up a whole world of options.

Short of water reistance limitations, there are no cons in my opinion unless you consider manual wind to be a con (I don’t).

Rolex makes up the bulk of my collection but what can I say...its a Speedmaster. I can't imagine not having one in my collection.
I wouldn't go diving with one but surely they keep water out to a certain degree. I'm sure Astronauts wear them when training in large pools. |

I love my "sapphire sandwich" Speedmaster as much if not more than my Rolexes.

I love my Speedy Pro, it is just amazing. I find myself looking at straps on line all the time, it is a whole new hobby. Every strap I put on it looks amazing, get one.

There’s nothing I can add that hasn’t been said already by the eloquent gentlemen above, so I’ll just add this:

The Speedmaster is a great watch and homage to the original. However, since 1968 with the introduction of cal 861 the watch has been diluted from the 145.012 that landed on the moon with Buzz Aldrin. The 861 and 1861 are a far cry from the 321 movement.

I have the 3212.80, which is a 40mm that uses a modified 7750. It's also different in that it is 10 bar wr. Love it.

I have one that I bought in the late 90s. I haven’t worn it much in the last 10 years or so but my one gripe with it, besides it’s water resistance, is the crown does not screw in Sometimes, when I am pulling my hand out of my pocket, wearing jeans, the crown snags on the way out and pops out. That annoyed me, especially if I don’t notice for a while

I don't really like the overall look of the bracelet (subjective), and I wish it had micro adjustment. I typically wear mine on NATOs and the black NATO it comes with is the best of the best!
It wears tall (especially on a NATO) and I've tended to bump the watch onto table edges etc if I don't wear it often and get used to it. The heslite crystal scratches/scuffs easily, which can easily be polished out at home. When I see all the special/limited editions that come out, I sometimes wonder if I should've gotten a different one, but in the end, I'm happy I got the classic Professional Moon Watch, as it is timeless. |

Very easy to add a fantastic 6 position micro adjustment clasp. Costs only ~$200 and takes maybe 30 minutes if you go really slow ![]() |

The thing I like the most is the versatility - I can put it on a bracelet, on a leather strap, on a NATO, or an MN Strap and get different looks from all of them. Love the Speedy Pro. Would argue it's perhaps the best value in Swiss watches today. |
