Wouldn’t it be better....

If Rolex just patented an interchangeable mechanism so a quick twist and you could switch from Batman to Pepsi etc? I imagine this wouldn’t be hard to accomplish but then they’d end up selling less total watches.

I think you answered your own question. Better for the consumer? Maybe. Better for Rolex? Absolutely not.

Personally I wouldn't want this, as I should think it would make the watch less durable.

Probably one of the many reasons Rolex transitioned away from the aluminum bezel insets.

Switching bracelets would be cool too. Like the new Cartier easy strap thing on the Santos. I’d probably buy a jubilee bracelet if it was easy to swap and easy to buy direct. A lot of people might actually buy bezels and bracelets. A lot easier to justify some accessories than a new watch. Might actually up the total purchase transaction if you could buy these things. Would also be awesome to put a dive timing bezel on a GMT for timing things everyday, then swap for the 24 hour bezel when traveling.

Of course it would be cool. If the watches were easily able to be changed with inserts and bracelets, it would be amazing. Unfortunately it seems Rolex will never ever ever do this.

Rolex is usually against user customization. The 5-digit GMTs are an anomaly which will make them a forever hot item.
