Traded my seadweller 43 after 1 week...

For this beauty...I try but just can’t bond with the modern watches...can’t beat the warmth and classic cool of vintage and plexiglass...

Whatever floats your boat.

I tried going vintage and although I appreciate so many things about them, I went in the other direction. In ~ SD43, out 5513 from 1967

My SD43 is probably my favorite Rolex ever. I also own and love a 1966 5513. Completely different watches for different occasions. Those that hate the cyclops on the SD are definitely entitled to their opinion, it's not for everyone. But I don't understand how you can hate the cyclops on the SD43 and be OK with one on all the other Rolex sport watches.
Is it just breaking the Seadweller tradition?
Personally, I think it's an improvement and, with the wider lugs and new movement, Rolex really nailed it with this watch.

Personally, I am not a fan of the new block cases with the non-sculptured lugs. The 43mm Sea-Dweller took the watch to another extreme with its oversized case. While change is inevitable and sometimes very appropriate, oversized, large watches are extreme and unnecessary. It's a trend and as we all know, many trends come and go.

The classics with their 40mm cases worked for many decades and still do. Tudor seems to have put out some very nice, sculptured cases the past few years, but while they look very nice, they are not a Rolex.

The Sea-Dweller has never been a popular watch for Rolex, especially when compared to other Submariner models.

Good choice!

I've tried but I just cannot warm up to the new watches. I think they are beautiful & can appreciate them on others wrists but just not for my wrist.

The size and the cyclops were a dream come true for me a definite progression . The Goldilocks SD not to small and not to big .

If you're saying you prefer the cyclops, I agree.

For my next Rolex, being I have the Bluesy, it's probably going to be the 50th Anniversary SD, love the red, and will be the "under the radar" SS watch I'd prefer rather than just getting the SS SubC, but the cyclops is a must personally.

I’m pretty sure we are just starting OUR opinions,Nothing more, nothing less.Rolex is so secretive with their sales Numbers we will never know if the Cyclops was a mistake or not $ wise for Rolex. This is the Vintage section so You will find a lot of hardcore purists here, myself included. These differing opinions is what makes collecting fun.

You’re correct. People are stating their opinions as if they are facts. It’s too early to tell if it is going to be a success or not but I’d be willing to bet that from a sales numbers perspective, it will be more successful than the previous generations.

Agreed. The 40mm is perfect.

The Maxi case is mostly a no-no for the reasons you mentioned; however they at least "fixed" a some of the dimensional issues on the 43 (and the SD4000 prior).

Note: I own the 43 and enjoy it, but vintage / 40 mm gets the nod.

I concur with all of this, and the last bit, imo, is why they stuck a cyclops on it.

Just picked up an SD43. I’m a big fellow so it should feel fine. Right? I’ll wear it another week or so. Unless I get used to size I’ll trade it.
The dial is unique.
