SS BLRO Price Development
Hi,
It may seem pointless but trying to somewhat figure out where the grey market price of the BLRO will go. Like many others, I would like to own this watch but am not willing to pay the current grey market prices. I’d rather spend $20k on a Daytona, which seems like a better deal. Well, only god knows and only Rolex has the power to indirectly influence pricing by controlling supply, together with ADs who hold back inventory in their safes for the high rollers. However, I’m checking the usual places (Sales section of this forum, Chrono24, DavidSW etc.) regularly and I see prices slooowly dropping. Seems like we have the first one under $18k on Chrono24. I was surprised to see that nobody bit when DavidSW had his 4th of July sale and was offering it for about $19,5k. It’ll be interesting to see where this goes in the next months. I think demand will remain high. Supply seems to be better than the Daytona, so that could indicate that it will settle well below the $20k mark. As I moved a lot in my life, I don’t have a well-established relationship with an AD (unfortunately), so I will be in the grey market, most likely. I also refuse to do one of those AD package deals (buy a PM watch I don’t really want), just to get a shot at the BLRO. I did get my name on a list at one AD and am #25 but who knows if this is true at all. I think I’d pull the trigger around the $12k mark but it might take a long time, if it ever goes down that far in price. What do you think? |

You could always make an offer for 12k to one of the sellers and see what happens ??

SS BLRO Price Development
I think this watch will be around for another 10 years at least, so it won’t be difficult to source one around retail price.
I’m surprised that you’re surprised the watch didn’t get snatched up at $19.5k. That’s heck of a premium. Only people on both ends of the wealth distribution will do that. |

Well, I just came back from Paris, talked to 3 stores, including Bucherer, another ont he 16th and at CDG airport, they say don’t expect to see one in stores for at least 3 years... the one they get are reserved for their best clients.

It’s still so early in the BLRO lifecycle that it’s impossible to predict what the pricing will settle at. If overall SS sports supply improves to where it was 2 years ago, there’s nothing to say that the BLRO wouldn’t have the same supply as the BLNR. There were plenty of times I found BlNRs in the cases, and gray market prices were pretty close to MSRP, often a hair lower.
Right now the BLRO is the hot new thing and it’s been released in an environment where everything is scarce. Give it time and see what happens. |

I agree with you. I think this is one that will fall back to earth within a year or so and sell for whatever the Hulk and BLNR go for (no idea what that will be though). |

Everyone is caught up on how the grey premium for this watch right now is far higher than the SS Daytona. I have a strong feeling this won't last though. Combine the ongoing supply issues fueling the grey market with a truly hot piece that everyone wants, and you get this as the result. My guess is they are already producing more BLROs than Daytonas on a run-rate basis. It won't take as long for ADs to go down their list and get through their whale clients that want a BLRO (compared to the Daytona). It may take a very long time for an ordinary customer to pick one up at an AD, but I am guessing you'll see a meaningful drop in asking prices on the grey market well before that occurs.

SS BLRO is just priced too high, if prices continue to hover at 20k usd, you will see many of these floating around the market

I refuse to believe that the utter lack of supply across all SS sports models can continue for long (now includes ND sub/sub/hulk/sea-dweller/Batman gmt/BLRO gmt/daytona/sky-dweller/I’m probably missing some). Unless Rolex has decided just to make Datejusts and Day Dates, eventually things will reach an equilibrium with most of these models (Daytona excepted). And clearly an economic pullback would bring that equilibrium much more quickly.

I think you underestimate the grey market. I am sure you'd get a reply, but probably with a decline in your offer. Never hurts to ask. Plus if you don't ask, you don't know!!

Have a BLNR already. Love it and think it can co-exist with the Pepsi.

I forget where I heard this, but it makes total sense. You go into the Rolex AD looking for a BLRO. You get told "Sorry sir, but we have this Tudor GMT that just came out for only $3,900. Perhaps you would like to wear this while you wait for your number to be called".

I just picked up a 16710 with all 3 bezel options and both oyster and jubilee bracelets.
a versatile watch to say the least! I'll wait for the SS BLRO price to come down to earth..

These are probably golden times for the BLRO as Rolex just produced a good bunch. My understanding is they had lots of bezels from unsold WG´s. You look at the watches flowing into the market right now but I cannot help but think that at some point, supply will dry up of the model and we will start seeing the other models like the BLNrs flowing again. Supply of the BLNRs is tight right now and grey prices climbing close to 11K. If BLRO supply dries up for six months, expect the watch to hover around the 20K mark.

I just seen someone had the nerve to ask 23k Why wouldn't anyone instead buy a 2015 WG BLRO for 26k which was recently available. I sure know where I'd put my money.
