Cost prices
We all share this passion, but with AD margins, Rolex profit, Taxes, etc.
What is really the cost price of a Daytona, GMT or Day Daydate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I would guess right around 50% of MSRP. It is jewelry, most if which sits around (not the sports models, but on average across the line) so it has to have a large margin. Probably less than diamonds though!

Buying from an AD there are two margins absorbed into msrp. The AD's retain margin (likely between 30-45% - my guess) and Rolex’s corporate margin (anyone’s idea is a best guess).
Say an AD buys a Daytona from Rolex for $9000 usd (purely a guess on my part). I’d assume that Rolex must manufacture said watch for a unit cost of around $4500 at most. This is purely speculation my my part

My guess is the cost of the actual watch to Rolex would be significantly lower than you would imagine. They need a lot of margin to cover all their A&P spend, R&D costs, non manufacturing overheads etc..

There is a cost associated with Rolex making your watch. Then there is Rolex's margin. Then there is the AD margin. I would expect the cost of making the watch to not be more than 20-25% of the final price.

wholesale dealer costs are 65% of retail i believe or there about. there is no way to establish how much Rolex makes as you don't know their unit cost.

Did this on another thread. Not saying it’s accurate but does show a price build up.
