Help from those in London

Hi all! Enjoying my coke 16710 over here in Ireland. I’m looking to get a Pepsi bezel, and have heard that St.James’s RSC in London do actually allow for the purchase of a Pepsi Bezel for 55 pounds.

I know this sounds crazy, and it probably is, but would anybody with a 16710 in London be kind enough to acquire a Pepsi bezel and post it across the channel to Dublin? I would cover shipping and even a commission if that’s what it takes!
It is notoriously hard to acquire a bezel over here in Dublin.

I might be wrong, but I was under the impression they had to fit the new bezel insert. You then have the choice to have the old one back or leave the old one with them (for a cheaper price).

Yeap! But I’ve done it on my 16710 and it seemed pretty straightforward enough to swap out the insert. Only if the person doesn’t mind doing that of course.

Apparently it’s one of the very few countries allowing you to keep your bezel.

I did to help fund other things. Have a Tudor gmt now. The 16710 is fantastic though. A nice one you have picked up.

Ah I see. The Tudor looks every bit the part a proper GMT.
I just picked mine up 2 days ago, and already itching for changes. Shame though Dublin isn’t a place for the WIS. A monopoly really.

Could you perhaps first "lose" your existing insert and then get a replacement at the ad in Dublin.

Hi! I’ve tried and they said they would still have to send the watch over to St.James RSC in London. And they wanted 60 pounds just for the shipping fee alone. It’s pretty outrageous actually. Considering London is a 40 minute flight away .

Try calling a couple of AD’s with parts accounts. They are around still in the UK.

Bezel insert for a 16710 costs about £45 from Rolex. Someone with a parts account can probably sort you out.

It's very strange that the ad cannot just order an insert. I have ordered and received several from ads without any problem.

There's a watchmaker in Trinity Street in Dublin who repairs high end watches, Rolex, Patek etc. Surely he'd have a Rolex parts account as mentioned above.
Save you the bother of the whole London option, postage, courier, insurance etc. etc.
Worth a phone call at least.

When I went into StJames they fitted the new insert and handed me the other insert back in a little aliminium tin , Cost was exchange £38 if you wish to keep the old insert there is a 50% surcharge £56 ? Give or take a pound .

I asked a contact at the St James RSC and was told you would have to be there with the watch for it to be fitted to. No walking in and buying parts over the counter.

I don’t think even ADs can get parts. Rolex are very strict about random parts getting onto the market. The only inserts you see for sale are from people who walk in and pay to replace and keep like I did; receiving it in a tin. Although I didn’t sell it.

It would be best for you to fly over as you need the watch for the swap.

To be honest if you can get it from your local AD for the cost plus £60 shipping then just do that.

You need, someone that you have never met with a 16710 that's near St James Street prepared to take time out of their day to buy the part and send it you (and if I understand this requires someone willing to do a DIY bezel removal after purchase), all to save you £60 (well less when you factor in shipping costs).

I don't mean that to sound harsh, just fact, the above criteria leaves a pretty small pool of people.

If that is £60 return shipping its actually very reasonable too, its an expensive watch they are not putting it in an envelope with a first class stamp.
