16014 Datejust Tuxedo
Hello,
My current watch is a Tudor Pelagos, which I truly love and I wear it everyday and everywhere. It's a big diver though, so not the best match for a formal event. So for the last few months I have been considering adding a nice dress watch. With my budget (loose 3k) and my preferences, I believe a 3035 powered Datejust is my best option. I don't like yellow gold, diamonds or big numbers (arabic or roman) on the dial. After looking at a bunch of watches, yesterday I came across a datejust with an unusual dial that I have not seen before. I looked it up and I believe it is called a Tuxedo dial, although some also call it Bullseye. The dial has a black outer ring and a sunburst silver disk in the center. The watch comes with black leather strap which I find compliments the dial perfectly. It was priced relatively similar as other datejust. I could not find any more information on these dials though. - Are they rare? - More valuable than the silver/white/black dials? - What should I know about them? Some questions - Is the original shape of the fluted bezels the same as the current datejust line? The bezel of this looked a bit smoother, so less sharp lines. I'm not sure if this is normal or if it has been polished a bit too much. How can I tell? And is it a bad thing? Is it expensive to replace the bezel? - What should I look for? Anything specific I should ask/check/see for these watches/movement? - Opinions on a watch like this? thanks, Michiel. |

Look for 'Rolex Datejust 36 Fluted Bezel' on Chrono24. It's located in the Netherlands.

That dial seems to be from a current 6 digit ref, found a lot of those. I have no clue if that dial fits the 3035 movement in the 16014 or if it's a repaint.
