Planning for the future in Yellow Gold: Daytona or Daydate
Hi all,
Happy Holidays. I'm starting to research so I can plan for my future watch, hopefully in the upcoming year. I recently visited an AD and a yellow gold daydate (black dial) caught my eye. On the other hand, the yellow gold daytona (green dial) also looks impressive. i haven't seen the daydate (Silver, diagonal motif), only in pictures. Wondering if this great community can provide insight on their thoughts. Currently I have a SD and Sky. Thanks and have a safe and happy new year.

Hi there -- I recently picked up a YG DD with black dial and diamond markers. It's such a sexy watch; I love it. theoretically I am a fan of the YG green dial Daytona but I tried it on the other day and I continue to struggle with how small Daytonas feel on my wrist. So, my vote, isthe YG dd black dial!

Go for the DD40. Black face. It’s a classy timeless watch. Most consider it the flagship of
Rolex. The yellow gold Daytona is a great watch but the green dial will not go with as much as the DD will. If your going to spend that kind of Money get the watch that goes with the most stuff. Unless you have deep pockets that get them all. I got rid of my DD40 black motif. I will be going to rose gold or a yellow gold again but a lighter face. I have too many black face watches |

I'd favour the Daytona with your collection but really just get what you love most.

If you into YG, why don't you consider GMT II 116718LN. I think it's an anniversary edition.

Daytona with green dial is not too appealing to me. I would get it with the classical white dial if you want a PM Daytona. Much more useful. Not a fan of the black dials on the DDs either. Black dials make the watch look smaller and black dials are on the sports models. I would be careful on a PM to get something you will really want to wear most of the time and retain forever.

Really cannot go wrong with either, but I would prefer the DD. It’s only you who can decide though.

I’ve had my DD, YG, silver diagonal motif dial for about 2 weeks now. Can’t get my eyes off of it. It’s gorgeous.

The DD40 has been on my radar too. It may be my next purchase (conquest) next year as well. WG for me but I'd also like to see that silver roman w/ diagonal motif dial in person.

My suggestion is a white dial YG Day Date!! You'll never get tired of wearing this one.

I own the silver diagonal motif DD40 and it is an amazing watch. I have not taken it off in the last 2 weeks. I absolutely love this watch! Not only does it look good it is super comfortable to wear. The president bracrlet has no match in my opinion!

Given your collection, it’s a tough call. DD to me, is the one quintessential YG, must have Rolex, if only having one YG piece in your collection. As others have said...I’d go lighter dial for a bit more versatility (at least that’s what I did)

Can’t go wrong with either but given that you have a fluted bezel on the SkyD I’d go with a Daytona. I’m not a fan of any green dial so if it were me I’d be looking at the YG Ceramic Daytona on oysterflex

Oh and another consideration is the micro adjustment on the clasp. The DD doesn’t have one. It may not be an issue for you but if you find that you frequently adjust the size of your DSSD and SkyD you may want to lean towards the Daytona

Is this a discontinued model? Can't seem to find it on the site. Also, is it a 40mm?
