advice need re seadweller ..... thanks

hi everyone, i'm glad i found this forum....you guys are great...buying a seadweller 16600 which seller claims to be new never used fr AD with serial number U951803....seller is highend watch seller on ebay with over 300 perfect feedback...seller does not have box or paper but is willing to go with me to AD to authenticate....price $3600 us....?'s:
-U serial number indicate 1999/2000 production date, is this too old to be new...back of watch does not have green sticker...only sticky glue residue...
-how much would you think no box/paper worth?
-i have never been to an AD so what questions do you think i should ask and how much is reasonable to pay for authentication....
-finally would you buy this watch

Hi Peter,

Welcome to the Forum.

The SD is one of my favourites but IMO - no, I would not buy that watch, I would pass on that one. I don't like the markers or the lug holes.
But if it is authenticated and it's what you want.

Ask the Ad what it would cost to service it. it is over 5 years old maybe never worn, but since all the stickers are missing who knows for sure. And while he is at it, have him pop the back make sure the movement is a 3135. Also have him check the brcelet for wear

Wait a minute wasn't a question asked about this exact same watch a few days ago? I remember the "sea dew" tag.

i'll pass on the watch as I'm quite fussy about the papers. USD3600 for a SD with no box & papers is high for me. Go for USD3000. Get it authenticated by a AD. It might be worth considering then.

Concur. I have a gut feel this is not a 'new' item. I would contra with a full overhaul, pressure test and 1 year post overhaul warranty [which i recently did with my own SD]. Don't mean to put a dampner on your enthusiasm but that's the route i'd go.
BTW, welcome!

I have a Z serial SD. Are the markers different from the U's?

I think the main differences of concern would be the solid end links and lug holes on the case....and.....anyone.....

This is my SD.
I thought the marker surrounds on the op's last pix looked a bit thick but it would seem that it was just the pix.
As for the lug holes, I suppose that just dates it.
