1 of 10 Special Edition Sky Dweller for the US market

Visiting a large AD today and was shown this particular WG Sky Dweller with the blue dial that's normally available for the SS only. Was told it was one of ten in the entire US. Wondering anyone else know about this?

Pretty unique TBH. Love the WG sheen (I was there looking for a WG full bracelet Daytona) and found this to be incredible as I never heard about Rolex doing things like this. Maybe someone more experienced than I am can attest this?

Rolex wouldn’t do that.

I'd like to see what the warranty card reads...

Not sure about how limited quantities produced are, but I have seen this in other markets. Rolex has done blue, white, and black dials with stick markers in WG. And they have also done them in strap models instead of bracelets, as early as 2017.

yup it's true. Rare model. It's an ultimate stealth watch... People would go wow rare SS Blue Dial SD... But only a select few would realise its even rarer. I've only seen one for sale on Chrono24. Here's a pic as well (not my watch)... Friend of a friend sent it to me

I've seen the blue dial on WG numerous times. Not sure how true that 1/10 thing is - sounds like bullshit to me.

Got it. Thanks for the answers so it is a real thing. Wonder why would Rolex do this. I'm not also sure whether only 10 for the US market is true. Probably more common in other markets.

.

It was standard configuration after Basel 2017 and before the WG model have been discontinued at Basel 2018.

Not much of them have been commercialized , but it's not a "special edition".

It's presented in the Rolex Master catalog 2017/2018 that every AD in the world have (or had) at your disposal.

This is a good example of the “I don’t get WG argument”. Here we have an identical model in WG vs SS with the same dial option. How many would opt for WG just to know it’s WG?

Yeah nothing special. Likely what's true is that there are 10 out there in inventory currently, but not that only 10 were made or will ever be made.

This is for the WIS who buys a 116619 and replaces the bezel and dial with black.

I remember someone posted an official Rolex catalogue that showed this dial/metal combination. A rare bird indeed.

It's been an option! No doubt about it. I don't believe it's available on their site nor do I believe it was a one of 10 release.

The bracelet is actually even more different between the WG (especially the brushed portion of the bracelet) and SS. But I see your point--I think a subtle difference on the dial would be better than either no difference or big difference.

Personally I would buy this if l were in the market for a sky dweller. I don't like Sky dweller as much as the other models.

I saw the blue dial at the Rolex AD in Burlingame, CA, a few months ago. I've also seen the white version in LA. I suspect there are more than 10.

Perhaps, if it was an exclusive dial or color that I absolutely had to have, however we are talking about apples to apples here as far as color schemes and overall appearance.

An example would be the smurf sub.....I love that color config on a sub, possibly even enough to pull the trigger, just like your platinum Daytona with the glacier dial (very awesome btw and congrats). However, if they offered the smurf in SS simultaneously with the WG version you bet I would certainly choose the SS.

I actually really like gold, but yellow gold or rose gold, simply because of the inherent color, not really so much because of the fact that it is considered PM.

I don’t know about how many were made but here’s a picture of the one I tried on at my AD last year.. definitely a lot of heft compared to the SS

About a year ago someone posted the pics on TRF and the warranty card read WG, even DavidSW had one for sale. Apparently if you order WG, you could get a blue dial if you wanted one. Not sure if they do that anymore.
