GMT II blue face

Please educate me.. why is this so hard to find? Apparently it’s selling over MSRP? Is it limited? Will they soon be readily available? Thanks

Didn’t know they existed. It looks nicer than the black dial.

I believe that Rolex will replace any black dial WG BLRO to the blue version free of charge, so if this is what you're after, maybe buy a used black dial version and send it in to RSC.

It didnt sell well. Few wanted to pay a premium over the black dial.

There have been a lot of convincing arguments that it's discontinued. It would certainly seem so.

However, my source tells me they have received no official communication that it is discontinued. But they've never received one either. So make of it all what you will.

One thing's for sure...you don't see many of them around.

It's not like Rolex announces their reasons for such decisions -- or, for that matter, even announces the decisions.

A good guess is that interest in the gold version plummeted when the steel one was released. It's hard to imagine that a blue dial would be enough to motivate many people to spend thousands more on a watch that otherwise looks the same.

Alternatively, the blue dial might have always been intended mainly for the switch-out program that was available to gold owners right after the steel version was released, and so it disappeared once that was over. This is plausible, given that Rolex likes its watches to keep value, and would perhaps throw a bone to original gold owners while also aknowledging that a gold version is no longer needed on shelves.

MY AD's Rolex buyer tells me this model; went some months ago. It will shortly be followed by the BLNR.

Available in Canada. They changed the WG from a black to a blue dial to defferentiate it from the SS models.

Thanks for all your input. I put a call into my authorized dealer, but I have not heard back yet. There are two listed on eBay for $42,000. I love the watch but that’s a crazy price. I’m hoping I can source one through an authorized dealer.

You won’t be able. Many threads available on the subject. It was discontinued a couple of months ago. I am not aware what used to be MSRP in USD. In EUR latest price was 33 600. Black Dial existing till March 2018 was priced at 35 000 EUR. Quite close to 42 000 USD.

there is a small AD in texas with one. I tried it on a year ago when it had a black dial. Last time i was there they had the blue dial. When i asked about it they said it had just come back from Rolex with the dial swap as their Rolex rep recommended they have it done. In any case im positive it was the same watch just with a different dial i had tried on before.

here it is in the background... the dial is blue

my understanding is it is discontinued.... the blue dial was to make it different from the ss version while they were selling existing stock. New ones ready to ship from Rolex shipped with a blue dial and AD's had the option to change watches they had in inventory to blue dials as well. Existing owners also had that option too

This is what I'm told. Although with Rolex, you never know for sure.

It’s the only logical explanation of the botched roll out
