Icon7 First Rolex

Hey guys!

I've been reading the threads in this forum for quite a while and found so much useful information.

I am 28 and I've gotten some success in my job recently and will like to own my first Rolex. I'm torn between the GMT Batman BLNR and the Explorer 214270.

I've never seen both in real life because of the shortages, so I will like to hear the opinions of you guys here!

Thanks!

I own both and they are equally good choices. If you set your sights on the Explorer you'll likely be wearing it much sooner.

Depends on your budget. You want to pay retail or grey prices for the Batman. I have owned both. I believe the explorer is a better for daily wear

owner of both pieces, two solid choices

personally prefer the BLNR, but can't go wrong either way

I recommend getting the one that YOU like the best, gl

It is a challenge to try them on, while they are no where to be found! Keep checking out the ADs... keep looking...
Both are great watches! You just need to discover which one belongs on your wrist!

Enjoy the hunt!

Welcome to the forums!

The BLNR may take some patience if you’re trying to buy at MSRP. The Explorer should be pretty quick. I think they are two solid choices and depends on what you like and what fits you.

BLNR is so damn cool and the Explorer is perfect in its simplicity. You want something a bit extra, with complications (most notably a date), go BLNR, you want a beast packed into a subtle understated package, go Explorer.

You want an “investment” (as much as the forum hates that word) the BLNR seems like the better choice at the moment, but who knows in future.

You should 100% try them on (if possible). Ultimately this is only way to know for sure.

Go for the all-around (with date and GMT functons as well as a two-color rotating bezel) stunning BLNR for sure.

I found the explorer to look nice in pics but pretty underwhelming in person. The blnr however was love at first sight for me and still remains as one of the top watches for me. I’d say get the blnr if you can but def check out the exp in person before you purchase. The matte black dial was not for me.

Thanks guys for the awesome responses. I just went to one of the local AD, no SS or explorer in sight.

Hopefully it makes it that much sweeter when I finally get it!

May I know how long did all your hunt last?

Welcome to the forum. Personally I would go with the BLNR over the Explorer but this is just a case of which you actually buy first as the other is sure to follow it eventually.
Both are amazing watches.
