Picking Up My First Rolex Tomorrow

I've been on a waitlist for 3 months, and finally got the call my new SS Submariner came in! I am going to pick it up tomorrow. Is it customary for the AD to give champagne, Scotch, or other "adult beverages"? A friend of mine says so, but he is basing that off of hearsay.

Any stories?

Now a days you are supposed to bring the champagne, scotch AND other adult beverages to thank the AD for selling you a watch.

I’ve read some posts on here about ADs giving you a drink

When I bought mine I was offered water lol

But then again, it was only a $13k watch

Maybe the “big fish” that show up and spend $30k and above get offered something fancy

Eh, I don’t drink anyway, so I wasn’t bummed about it

But a coke would’ve been nice!

Lol

No, but you should expect to get the watch and everything that is meant to come with it, boxes, links, tags, booklets, etc.

I don’t get any of that stuff from my AD, but my AD has come through with watches in a very timely manner, which I appreciate way more than a glass of champagne.

Indeed. :)

Last year I was offered water, coffee, espresso, or cappuccino when I got my SubC Date. Maybe they hid the booze when they saw me come in. I might've had an espresso, but I wasn't impressed with how fine they ground the beans. And don't get me started on the tamping.

I was offered coffee, water, tea, etc. Nothing special.

But the interaction with the AD was better than that. He was a true Rolex fan and we spent a good hour talking watches and that was much more valuable and memorable to me than a glass of cheap booze.

Congrats on a great watch! Post some pics.

Yup that. If you think you’ll be wanting another SS Rolex in the near future, which usually happens, taking care of your salesperson seems to be the best way to stay in their good graces for future

If they offer you champagne it’s a trap lol

Ferragamo brought me champagne while my wife was trying on shoes. AD might not scratch the bracelet while sizing it if you have a good one.

I've been offered champagne at the SD Rolex Boutique even without purchasing.. but I have bought from that salesman at a different store.

A couple of weeks ago when I bought my Explorer II, I was offered again but only took some water.

I get offered water at my local AD, and candies .. Would be nice if they have a little something for you to celebrate your new Submariner, it's a beautiful watch, congrats!

My AD in NYC gave me a travel case and a bottle of champagne as gifts. CONGRATS, wear your Submariner in happiness and good health.

I have yet to get my first Rolex but I would value more invites to view new pieces. It will be a great occasion. Enjoy and congratulations as the sub is the icing on the cake

Depends on the AD. I've gotten nothing, to water, to basically a full liquor bar with drinks and snacks. I suggest you give it no thought and celebrate somewhere better than your AD.

My AD gave me a nice box of chocolates for each watch I've bought from him. Wasn't expecting anything so it was a nice touch.

My AD gave me a Rolex tie, Rolex travel box, Rolex key chain and also took me and my wife to a nice dinner as our watches were being sized.

We have a strong relationship with them as they are a Patek dealer as well and that is the other brand I spend too much money on.

I was offered a beer when I bought my Z-Blue, but just took a water while he sized the bracelet. Congrats on the new Sub.

Yup, all the gifts and drink the AD has to pay for so these were used in the old days to garner sales and improve the whole AD experience, now it is just quick phone calls/texts and refusing/accepting bribery gifts.

Congratulations on a great watch. I have a great AD and I am sure they would give you whatever you want alcohol wise but I am not interested. I don't drink anymore but when I did, I preferred drinking at my bars and clubs not in a bright AD's with others looking at you like you are a tool. Get your watch and ask for any type of give away items like hats, etc. Then go to an upscale place you typically would not go and have a drink to celebrate your new purchase. Then move on and enjoy your watch.

All up to the AD. No standard practice.
Congrats on the Sub!
