Rolex made a small dial change on 2019 DD40!
Noticed it first on just the olive, but it appears to be across the board now, all metals. Been looking to buy but my ADs have not received any olive or even sundust since Jan - and now we know it’s probably because they were updating the dials. Same change on some OP and DJ as well.
Small crown at 6. It’s minor but I figured if I’m buying a keeper, I’d might as well wait to have the latest dial. I wonder if there are other minor tweaks to the case or bracelet. With random serials now, this could be a good way to tell if your DD40 was made in 2019. |

There will be people jumping up and down saying that is MK2 dial now blah blah blah and asking another $2-3k for MK1 dial without that mark.
Any excuse it seems these days to get the most prices out of these watches. LOL |

Well Some rolex watches sky rocket in value and collectibility cause of the dial. Rolex has been known for the dials say the red sub, vintage daytona...

The small crown logo has been showing up on the Datejust 41 models as well. The Wimbledon dial was first, but I've seen it on others recently.

Not a big fan of the new crown at 6. How many crown insignia's do you really need??

Understand why. Still not a fan of additional branding on the dial.

This crown between "swiss" and "made" is from now on the indication of new movments generation inside, 32xx or 2136 for lady's watches. That have started last year with new Gmt2 , new SDDS, new DJ36 and some DJ41. Now this is a reality for all models with these new movments inside. No OP is concerned yet, contrarily to what the op said in 1st post. |

New versions of the Yacht Master 40mm blue/rhodium also have this new dial, coinciding with the new 70hr power reserve 3235 movement.
Their ref# is now 126622, (was 116622). The same goes for the DJ 41mm. Movement upgraded to the 3235 and ref# is now 126300 replacing the 116300. Nicolas |

The crown just means it has the newer movement I think.
I'd me more excited about that the crown itself, but it's always nice to have the latest.

Good to know. The rose gold olive DD40 I tried on a few weeks ago didn’t have it and they just got it in.
When I get another DD40 I’ll want the crown because maybe that will mean it won’t have the date change issue! |

That issue has been sorted a long time ago now. I think 2016 dated DD40s where the last ones affected. Does yours still have it and when was it purchased?

Well, the crown at 6 is not so obtrusive, so not a big deal. And if it helps ID a movement, that is OK.
What bugs me is oftentimes is there can be too many lines of text / too much info on the dial. Rolex and other brands. Sometimes it seems like half the spec sheet is printed on the dials. And does anyone of normal intelligence really need that "feet & meters" comparison? Hopefully no one will decide to additionally add the "atm" too. Thanks all, for reading this rant.
