18078 Day-Date is missing the 12 o’clock case engravings...
I recently made a post about receiving my dad’s 6.6 serial 18078 Day-Date that he has worn (and abused) daily since the 80’s.
I took the bracelet off yesterday to send to Michael Young and upon doing so I realized that the “Registered design” and “18078” engravings that should be on the case at 12 o’clock simply aren’t there. Not even a trace. The serial number on the other end of the case is in pristine condition without a single digit being remotely faded. I thought about the possibility that maybe the endlink loosened up at some point in the watches life and rubbed the engravings away but it doesn’t seem likely given the SEL’s. Also I would expect to be able to make out at least a few numbers or letters if that were the case. Anyone have any idea what might be going on here? |
