Rolex Marketing Costs

Wild guess time. If I knew how to do a poll I would. But what % of the cost of your new Rolex do you think is attributed to marketing costs alone?

10%?
30%?
50%?

Watching the Formula 1 race today, the US Open last week and seeing the ubiquitous Rolex clock everywhere, as below at the Taylormade Golf Kingdom in Reynolds Plantation Ga, during Masters week makes one think that every $10,000 watch you buy is a $5,000 watch backed by $5,000 of marketing costs and every SS Daytona you buy is a $5,000 watch, backed by $5,000 of marketing costs and $15,000 of Extra Markup.

I was reading an article that stated in 2014 Rolex spent 56 million on advertising making it the largest watch advertiser for the 15th consecutive year

Source: https://www.watchtime.com/wristwatch...ising-in-2014/

No idea how accurate the article is and no idea what spending is now but I imagine it has increased over the years as have other brands.

If everything they do annually for marketing costs them only $56m, then I think that's absolutely remarkable that they can spend less than 1.2% of their gross revenue and have that kind of impact and presence in the global luxury goods arena. Though I wouldn't be surprised if that figure was in reality 5-10x the stated amount spent.
