Flipping is more prevalent than even I thought

My shopping center hassle Gray with new/unworn inventory. Stopped in to check it out today and the owner shows me their Rolex collection, all of the hot SS models were in the case with tags.

No more than two minutes into browsing a 50 something year old pulls up in a 100K car (no pre-owned hooptie) carrying an AD botique bag with a Rolex WG YM he had bought that same day. He unloaded it on the spot and drove off.

Owner tells me there are a lot of people who have been doing this since the Panerai days, and now it’s Rolex’s turn, and that’s what keeps them in business.

Just some information I thought you’d like to hear and add to the already abundant amount in this forum.

Flipping has been going on forever and will continue. It is actually a value add as it keeps a strong secondary market going on all types of watches.

The key word is value add as in an additional way to buy and sell. The issue we have now is it has become too profitable not to flip most models. It is very unbalanced at the current time.

I could only hazard a guess. Porcelllo Jewlers which is a family owned small business that deals in Rolex. I could be wrong. And FYI. I’m not implying anything about them. They are just a dealer like any other dealer.

True, in malls/centers or Goldfarbs has the windows dressed so you cannot see out.

Isn’t any jeweler that dabbles in re-sale considered a Grey? I could have that wrong. Also this was not in Washington, but Texas.

Unfortunately Grey Dealer implies a negative connotation and I don't want to get involved in any drama in the community.

I don't consider them a Grey dealer at all. I would consider that a bad thing if they were. Just did not leave a nice taste in my mouth the last few transactions I have had.

They only sell preowned units, and estate jewelry...
