Svc cntr won't work on watch b/c peeling luminescence?

I have a late 1970's rolex with a unique white dial with black roman numerals and black hands. One of the two service centers in the US quoted me a service for the nearly 40 y/o watch that included a 500 charge for a new dial (they note, and I believe them, that the luminescence is peeling into the movement as dust). The issue is that they state they do not have a matching dial. All the other white dials come with gold numerals and would have to have white hands... I feel like the entire essence of the watch is being lost (one that was given to me by my grandfather who bought the piece new, in Switzerland, on the date of my birth).

<sigh> It's a huge disappointment. I don't mind footing the bill. The issue is with losing this peculiar dial and hands setup. Any recommendations as to what I could do?

Best,

Take it to little watch shop there in Houston. They’re repair it for you and allow you to continue with your dial and hands. Post a pic!!

Don't replace the dial. An independent watchmaker can stabilize (or remove, if you prefer) the remaining lume. Photos would be great by the way.

That's really a shame. It would be so simple for them to relume the hands and dial and keep your grandfather's watch whole. That's just not who Rolex is.
