Submariner 1680
I'm going to look at this watch, it has box and certificate from 1980. Looks like original bracelet, awaiting some more pics. From what I can see it looks like a service dial but original date wheel - what are your thoughts? This ones about £11k.

£11K for a service dial is more than you would want to pay.

Hi, yes the watch has a service dial, service hands and service insert, not sure about the date wheel. If it is the original bracelet it would likely have a VD or VE code on the inside of the clasp (this is an approximation as the case and the bracelet may not necessarily have been manufactured in the same year).
As with everything vintage it is always a question of what you are prepared to compromise on or want. There is nothing wrong with a 1680 with service replacement dial hands etc but 11k is a very steep price for that IMO. Good luck with getting a 1680 the hunt is worth it in the end |
