There must be a name for it...
(or maybe not!)
The cloth covered metal 'flexible band', 'holder' 'ring thingy' that holds the watch inside the original Rolex box? Backstory- I bought my 168000 new and promptly put the packaging away for safe keeping. A few years after purchasing it I was hired to photograph watches for a jewelry store and when considering how to keep the watch bands extended and holding their shape thought of the 'holder' inside my Rolex box. I proceeded to trim it to about half it's size so it wouldn't show on the edges and went on my merry way to complete the job. Now years later I was hoping to find a replacement... spurned on I think by all of the collectors here and the emphasis on 'completeness' and 'originality'. Off to search for this 'flexible holder' or 'open ended band' (in my case green covered in the Rolex velour material) and have discovered that I'm terminology challenged. Any kind of searching with the terms that pop into my mind returns anything but what I'm looking for. The most direct solution would be to buy a complete box. But, I'm cheap and that seems like overkill for just this one simple part, though maybe in the end I'll discover that it's the only way to get one. In the meantime though I want to exhaust the other possibilities. Anybody know a technically correct term for this item so I can scratch this itch and check it off the list of distractions from everyday life? And specifically what I'm talking about is the band that sits inside the watch bracelet to keep it extended, allowing the watch to sit inside the rectangular slot in the base of the box. It's flexible, open ended, metal covered in cloth, and green. Appreciate any help with this quest! |

Thanks! Hadn't considered that!
And if I can find time, I'll post up a photo of my 'modded' one- |

We should make these from scratch ... they’re impossible to find without a complete box set.

A full box is way overkill for what I was hoping to do. It's on the list of 'I'd like to have' but hasn't made it over to the 'I *have* to have'. yet. |

The 3rd generation Bufkor box would be the correct box for your 168000 if it was sold in the USA. Also attached are photos of the 1st and 2nd generation Bufkor boxes.

Apologies for the poor quality phone pic, but here it is. Sold in the US....minus the 'cuff'.
