Help with Oyster Links
So this is a bit of a story, but the context is important.
I purchased a 97200 Glidelock bracelet from someone on another forum to put on my Explorer. The bracelet looked good, felt good, and got a clean bill of health from the service department at Wempe in NYC. However, I recently went to sell it, and was informed by a potential buyer that the engravings were indicative of it being a well known high-quality replica. Fortunately I paid via Paypal, and the seller has already said he'll accept a return. My issue is that I mixed and matched the links a bit when swapping the clasp onto my 77200 bracelet, and I'm struggling to determine which links are real and which are fake. Other than weight and dimensions, does anyone know of any identifiers or engravings on Rolex links that I could use to identify the ones that belong to me? Thanks in advance for the help!

If you are referring to the screwed bracelet links and easylink utilised to size the watch, I don’t believe there are any specific engravings/marks on them (have never seen) like there is on the clasp and inside the endlinks. However interested to know if that is the case.

I think it will likely be very difficult to distinguish the two since a high quality replica will likely weigh the same, but it's worth a try. The authentic links are 904L stainless where most replicas are 316, but without high powered analytics (eg mass spectrometer) you can't tell. And the best replicas ARE 904!
Good luck. Let us know. |

[QUOTE=dafuture;9916699]I was hoping there was something I missed, but they don't seem to be marked.
Maybe you can post your question in the watch tech section to see if any of the watchmakers on the forum knows this? |
