Rose gold skydweller Arabic chocolate dial

Hi all

Please could you tell me about the rose gold skydwelller with Arabic chocolate dial that is now discontinued

I want to learn about it

Eg when was it made and discontinued, how many were made etc

Also is it likely to retain its value more so than the newer rhodium dial one do you think?

Is this the most sought after dial? (It’s my favourite) but if it was popular I can’t difure out why it was discontinued. Does anyone know?

Thanks

No one knows how many were made. You will very likely/always lose value on a PM watch especially if bought brand new

Introduced in 2012, discontinued in 2018. Nobody knows except Rolex how many were made.

It seems that Rolex will not go back to the numeral dials anytime soon. Batons are the new face of skydwellers. If you like it go for it!

Buying a PM SkyD as an investment is a wrong move.
The one you looking for can be had in mint condition way below original retail.

They weren’t popular because of the price. Only became a real hit after the introduction of the SS version with it's modest pricing.

Not so many around in the wild. Never seen a red gold but my own.

I ended up with the Sundust Roman dial. Wearing it as my daily and loving it. The nice engineering feat on the always crown up is really cool, despite being irrelevant.
You buy this watch because you love it and don't look back.

Thanks

So it was made for 6 years

Yes I’ve noticed the dials are now baton type
Dials. I prefer the chocolate brown colour of
The discontinued dial as it goes well with rose gold

They seem to sell (or be advertised a few thousand below original
Msrp)

6 years seems a fairly short production run too

I’m ordering it in a moment so thanks for the help

I don’t expect to make any money on it - buying it because I love it but always good if it holds much of its value

Ps why is it called an Arabic dial?

Arabic dial is with the numbers as we use them.
Great choice, really beautiful watch and it wears very comfortable with a nice hefty feel

(Roman dial)

That SkyD always caught my attention. Im a fan of arabics on a Skydwellerer or Daytona. They really add some character, like romans on a Datejust.

I consider the PM Skydwellers on leather huge value for money compared to many other modern (PM) Rolex watches. Even with current fair prices for as new models they are quit rare and the whitegold one with black dial/ black strap is already discontinued . If you like them don’t hesitate too long, not very unlikely these things become unobtainable once the sub-sheep wake up and realize you get a huge amount of extra watch for just a few thousand more compared to your average rather boring sub, gmt etc...;)
