Any idea when / if the Polar Explorer II 216570 will receive a Rolex refresh in the next year or two? I'm thinking primarily of an upgrade to the new 3285 movement and the triplock crown. I love the Polar and it would give my collection a bit of colour (all my Rolex and Patek are black or blue), but would prefer to avoid buying only to have a new model released at Basel.

It won't be updated in 2020(I presume). 2021 is the 50th anniversary of the watch, so I can only imagine they would touch it then.

Nobody except a select few at Rolex would know that, but if you put a gun to my head and forced me to guess, I would say I don't know.

For sure no one here knows. My guess is 2021, as mentioned earlier, that's the 50th anniversary. Unless you are a top dog with your AD you likely won't get the 1st batch. That, again, just my guess, means you likely don't get you hands on one until no sooner than late 2021, every bit of 2yrs from today. Go buy a polar, its a great watch.

I agree on the new movement but not on the triplock crown, its not needed and would be too large in proportion to its slender case which already takes up enough real estate on the wrist.

Ya, I have a Blnr and a 42 Exp. I just think the size of the newer larger triplock would be too much for the overall diameter of the ExpII

When the update comes some will want the previous iteration. Prices will increase on the “older” watch through the hype of the new. Look at 5 digit Pepsi’s, going for 3-5k $ until the BLRO emerged and then they jumped to 9-13k.

I surmise that 2021 we will see a 50th anniversary rebirth of the 1655 dial and hand layout with white (for polar dial) or black (black dial) ceramic bezel. You read it here first
