Dumb idea?

I blew off three 116518 Champagne dial with black subdial at three different ADs late last year and early this year, one ad was even willing to bundle with their next white Daytona or Pepsi. Only a few weeks later I realized I really wanted it put in a request at my normal AD and have been waiting nine months for a gold watch!!!!!

Just got the call today that they have one with the opposite colour scheme, black dial & champagne sub dial I’ll go have a look and see if it blows me away in person.

Here’ the question, if I don’t love the black, how dumb would it be if I bought it and went to RSC and changed dials? Is it possible to do, and any ideas how much it would cost?

I bet you’ll love it.

The black version is stunning. Love the red accents.

IMO this is a very bad idea. Wait for the variation of this watch that you actually want. This piece is very expensive and you shouldn't settle for anything less than what you want.

I do like the red accents as well I was just on the Rolex site and decided I’d like it even better if there was a touch of red painted around sub dials like on the white gold blue dial Daytona.

I agree with you. I haven’t seen the Black dial one before. I do like some parts of it in pictures but I know I like the champagne dial. If I didn’t like it, I would only purchase the black dial if swapping dials was an option that wasn’t crazy costly.

I’ve already turned down the diamond dial one pictured below. It is nice, but didn’t blow me away.

Get the one you actually want. Anything else is madness that you will come to regret. Have patience.

I will, the whole point of the question is, assuming I don’t love the black dial, would it be worth swapping dials to get what I want a bit faster.

I don’t even know why people really like this watch for the price. It’s just too delicate and feminine.

No. Make sure you get the one you want from the get go. Good things take time.

No one answered ops question. Just gave the "if you dont like it, wait for it"

@OP: I dont think Rolex Canada does dialswaps. It would have to be an aftermarket job. Just like the US warranty cards the 116518LN will feature a description of the dial colour. They would have to swap the warranty card to accommodate for this dial swap and they won't just be doing that because you didn't like the colour of the dial. Normally a warranty card swap can only be executed by the AD, granted they messed up the writing on the back or wrote 2015 instead of 2019 for the date.

To verify this youre best off walking up to their HQ in Toronto or give them a call.

Probably good advice. I will either fall in love with the black, or wait!

The black with champagne is one of my all-time favorites. If I didn't have the WG version on OF, that would be my pick.

However, if it doesn't blow you away, then while I wouldn't say it was a dumb idea necessarily to swap dials, I just wouldn't fool with it. My two cents.

No. Not unless you just enjoy throwing money out the window. And there will still be a time factor sending the watch off (I presume to an RSC so that you know it's done with real Rolex parts) and getting it back.

For this kind of money, there should be no compromising.

They both look nice. I hope you like the black dial. I think the red accents will really make it pop.. I cant blame for passing on the diamond dial, that would be a hard pass for me.

If you can get it now and swap the dial the why not, vs waiting for one with the dial you want.

I say wait for the variation you want. I personally do not understand the appeal of the "Paul Newman" looking version with the black dial. I think the red ascents are too much on a full yellow gold watch.

The champagne panda dial is amazing!

Not my money but I prefer the black dial.

Just one dumb question, it’s possible to put a 116710ln bracelet on a 116519 Daytona ?

Thank you
