Struggling to give the 114270 wrist time

The Explorer was my first Rolex but was quickly followed by 3 others. Out of the 4 it gets the least wrist time and to be honest I have to force myself to wear it or at least resist the temptation to wear the others.

That’s not to say I don’t enjoy the Explorer on the wrist, when I wear it it feels great. This has me wondering if it’s better to sell It to streamline the collection to 3 or make a conscious effort to wear it more often in rotation.

What do you all do in such quandaries?

If you're not getting the same enjoyment you once were when you wear the 114270 then I'd move on from it.

I just sold my beautiful Sub date yesterday. It was not getting any wrist time at all. I have 3 GMTs. If I'm not wearing one of those, it's my Speedy or Explorer.

It was a tough decision to sell, but it was the right one.

I felt the same of my Expll, I put it away for awhile and now I'm glad I didn't sell it. You also said You still enjoy it and it feels great on your wrist. Give it some time.

I’ll take it!
That model is my brother’s watch that started my interest in Rolex.

I would just sell it. Let someone else enjoy the watch.

Watch collecting and hemorrhoids do have some similarities.

If you are moving to another piece or need cash, then sell. Otherwise why not just hang on to it for a while longer?

That’s an easy call. It time to move it along. It’s not like it’s one of your kids.

Someone gave what I thought was decent advice to someone in a similar post - if you’re not selling because you need the cash, try putting it in the safe for 3 months and then bring it back out to wear. If it still doesn’t call to you, then you can probably move on with little chance of regret down the road.

What if you stored the watch away from the collection? Put it back in the box and place it in the drawer, let it stay there for a while, maybe you will miss it and get some new feelings for it, or maybe you forget if its gone. Thats what i do

According to TRF, 36mm is now women’s size and undesirable. Get rid of it before it loses all its value.

Of course I’m half joking, I’m sure it will hold value but it’s not the most popular model out there. Unless you need the cash, hold onto it and see where it ends up. I’ve had watches I wanted to flip but decided to hold onto it just in case. You can always sell it when you need the cash.

As said previously, if you don’t need the money from a potential sale, just keep it. Don’t wear it for a long while and get it back on your wrist eventually. It will maybe change your perception of it.

I think it pairs great with your Exp II Polar.

I was the same way with my 114270. I kept it and gifted it to my son when he turned 21 and he loves it.

I’m not sure I’d part with the 114270. It’s such a timeless watch.

I’d sell it and find something else. If there’s not another watch that you’re interested in, the save the cash or put it into another hobby.

You can always buy another if you regret it.
