Bumping Rolex

I have been trying to get my first rolex now for a little while and getting frustrated.

At this point, my name is in for the Sub Date which i will get eventually, even if its a year. I am not going to grovel some SA for the "favor" of buying something at list price, and not willing to buy something i dont want in order to get the Sub sooner.

They dont want my money very bad and i am content on not giving it to them until the watch is eventually ready. there are plenty of other great options out there for watches that can be bought, looking at IWC, Tudor, GS and another Omega at this point. wanted the Sub as my second watch to grow the collection, but at this point it looks like it will have to be the 4th or 5th

Life is too short to worry about the AD bestowing me the great honor of selling me a mass produced watch at MSRP :)

and no, grey isnt an option for me for Rolex. refuse to pay more than list price when i can just wait it out.

Be patient and continue to explore other brands. Be friendly to the people at the Rolex AD. I assure you they don't have a personal vendetta against you. Best yet - if the Rolex AD sells other brands that you're interested in, buy something else from them while you wait.

Good outlook

Watches aren’t essential items, they can wait. That being said. You can pick them up brand spanking new from a gray now for very little above MSRP + tax.

You just get to decide if you want to pay in cash or in time.

oh, i plan to keep in touch once a month with a text, i guess my point is i am not that consumed with getting one now. I am going to get the other watches i have been eyeing now and when the call comes i'll get the sub. no rush anymore and i refuse to pay over MSRP for a mass produced watch, i dont get why people "need" to get a watch so bad they overpay. lots of beautiful watches in the sea.

i read stuff on hear about people buying chocolates, etc for their AD...i mean...its just a watch :)

Seems like this waiting is frustrating and making you unhappy. I would look around and submit offers and get one today, then wear to the pub and meet my mates for a beer. Or you can wait, that's fine too.

no, not "unhappy", just not willing to go out of my way play games just to buy a watch at retail pricing. as i mentioned, im going to buy other brands and when they finally call for the Sub, then i'll have a sub :)

not willing to pay over retail when there are a ton of other brands that make great watches as well. I think people get consumed about "needing" a certain watch right away. it can wait, and instead of being my 2nd watch, it will probably be my 4th or 5th by then

If you want a Rolex, no other brand will ever scratch that itch (not even PP or AP). So, my advice is to collect your funds for your Sub so that when that call comes you can execute. Purchase other brands with additional funds (do not touch your Rolex money) you allocate for your collection.

Also, keep in contact with your AD so that you are on the top of their minds when they get the next Sub.

Here’s my last two AD purchased (July and September)...

agree with all, the Sub is going to be in my collection. i was never planning on having an All-Rolex collection anyway. the order of purchasing is going to change a bit, thats all.

....playing the game or chase as it’s called is all part of the fun. Are you to old, or just want it handed to you?

No interest in chasing a watch that hard. It's like trying to pick up girls at a bar, been married long enough to know I don't want to do that anymore.

Patience is a virtue... And besides it might mean getting two more watches a lot sooner

Love the chase......otherwise, it would be a boring and no one would care. Don't give up....you'll get the watch you want sooner or later.

Keep in mind that some smaller AD do not get that much inventory. You may have more chance from a bigger AD.
