Service for my Datejust 16233

Dear All,

I have two tone Datejust Ref#16233 that was purchased in 1999. the watch is slightly used and was in box for years. Now currently I am using it and am confused to give it for service or not. The watch is perfectly working and giving perfect time with +-2/3 seconds errors per day.

So i need suggestions regarding ,whether continue it using until i face any problem or give it to AD dealer straight for service.

Regards
Haris.

While you might want to wait until it stops keeping good time, there’s nothing wrong with getting a service. The problem will be when they want to replace original parts with service parts. That’s what you have to avoid, especially with a vintage, classic watch.

For RSC, for the next service, they probably wouldn’t. But at some point, maybe a future service, they would. That’s when you have to decide whether you should go with a good independent watchmaker.

But, for a common watch, like a DJ, it may never reach collector’s status. Vintage, yes. So, service parts - dial, hands, bezel, crown, etc - are ok.

My 16203 from 1999 needed a few parts according to RSC, crystal, crown amongst other things.

Took it to a well recommended guy in the UK who replaced all seals etc along with a service and it is running spot on since.
