Which of these two DJs to get for my wife?

My wife has finally succumbed to my Rolex obsession, and I'm going to get her a DJ for Christmas. She likes the SS/RG models, likes them with diamond indexes, and has really fallen in love with the Rose dial that comes on DJ31s. The choices I've seen at our local AD are one with a fluted bezel, and one with a diamond bezel. My question, for you women in the group (or for men who've gotten something similar for your wife/partner), is which would you recommend for her? I'm worried that the diamond bezel is not really a daily wearer -- too dressy -- and so it would sit in the box most of the time which would be a crime! And I figure she can always dress up the fluted bezel with a diamond bracelet (which she already owns).

Thanks for your opinions!

-Dan

Agree with your reasoning to get the fluted bezel.

...but which watch does your wife prefer?

I'm having trouble getting her to answer that question! I think she's too nervous to commit because it's buying an expensive "luxury item" even though we can afford it. Too many years of doing without so the kids could have things, I think, have conditioned her to be frugal...

My vote is for the fluted bezel. While the diamond bezel is nice, its more of a special occasion watch and might not be the best choice for her first Rolex

If my wife, the second.
She is of the woman and diamonds mentality.

After 43 years together, I have learned..............Ask her, don’t assume.
Their tastes are nothing like ours.
I can never guess it right so don’t try.

Women are different.
They’ll rock diamonds to LA Fitness.

Funny true, coincidental story.
Went in to AD thinking wife wanted the second one posted by OP.
I knew the first one would be shot down in a heartbeat.
What I didn’t know was how far off the second one was as well.
She picked this one.
So glad I left it up to her although my wallet was not as pleased.
As you can see, Diamonds are in fact her best friend.

BTW, she uses a Breitling loaded with as many diamonds as her daily beater.

Down here in SWFL women rock diamond bezels over the other options. Imo, fluted with a diamond dial will look great; If she loves diamonds go for diamond bezel & dial.

I'd go fluted for the versatility given that she has a diamond bracelet. The hard thing is anticipating where she may be a little down the road as tastes evolve with exposure.

Diamond bezel. They look spectacular on women's wrists.

I'd be curious to know her thinking (since it's the first woman's opinion to weigh in)...

This is what my wife finally ordered..... She wanted 31 but settled with LDJ... For the same reason you mentioned, my wife did not order the diamond bezel.

Personally, I like the fluted but if your wife likes bling then get the one with the diamond bezel.

I'm looking at similar watches for my wife, and I just cannot justify the extra cost for the diamond bezel. They charge and incredible premium for it which I can't wrap my head around. I think the fluted bezel looks amazing.

She likes the TT and rose dial. The bezel is secondary, plus the premium is too much imo. I would rather get her the fluted and surprise her with another gift.
