Trade Rolex 116610LV for 1998 Daytona 16520 White?

I have found myself increasingly attracted to the old Daytonas and have an option to trade my still unworn 116610LV Hulk and a sizeable amount of cash for a lovely U serial example with box booklets but missing the certificate. Its an early U serial as it has the tritium dial (Mk4 I believe) but doesn't have the SEL bracelet.

My most worn watch is my 126710 BLRO which I find extremely versatile due to having bought a 72600 Oyster bracelet & an all black Ceracrom bezel.

The LV sits languishing in the safe gratiously sized and un-stickered by the friendly AD but as yet unworn. Just not sure of the green.

Opinions welcome.

Personally I wouldn’t. I think the green machine is pretty darn cool. Remember Basel will be here soon, and Rolex could quite possibly discontinue the LV this year. But in the end Buy what you like

If you are not sure about the LV would do the trade. How much on top you have to add? Do you have pictures if the Daytona? I guess reasonable delta in $$ will depend on its conditions

If it is still unworn sounds like you were planning on trading it so might as well.

Agree.
But I would trade the LV for a 16520.

Depends on how much cash on your end but if not much I would. B&P examples are fetching for upper 20’s to 30k plus it seems. I just did a similar trade last month by trading my full set Z serial LV plus cash towards a recently serviced Rolliworks A serial white dial with SEL. No B&P either but couldn’t be any happier, I like it just as much as my GMT if not more.

The question is are you going to wear it??
Get it if you will enjoy it more...don’t if you won’t

I would not. If I wanted a SS Daytona I would find a newer, pre-ceremic, example that is complete with box and papers and in excellent condition. You should be in the range of an additional 4-5k and your Hulk. If you are going to move the Hulk now as opposed to later to maximize value.

It depends on how much cash you have to add, but the 16520 is much more collectible than the Hulk IMO.

Here’s a quick pic taken the other day to help make up your mind, I’m sure you will wear it as much as your GMT.

Trade it, the hulk is flashy junk (I can not understand the fascination with them) and the Daytona is timeless; jump on it.

Flashy junk? Wow- that is not how I would describe any modern Rolex, let alone a Submariner.
