Why hide serial numbers?

I don't get it? What are people worried about? I own the watch, have all the paperwork, etc...So is it a matter some sort of identity theft?

It's like when people block-out their license plate when posting pics of their cars... Why? What are you scared of??

Years ago when I didnt blur my numbers, I had dirtbags use my forum pics to sell their watches on Ebay. Only when a forum friend noticed my pics and report it to me is when I found out.
