Incoming BLRO

AD surprised me today with the BLRO. I’m over the moon. I made a formal request to acquire one about 6 or 8 months ago. I moved to the area and started my relationship with this AD 3 years ago. Not a great pic but you know what the BLRO looks like

I have a modest spend history at the AD since moving here. Just before the craze, I purchased a Sub date from the AD that I gifted to a dear friend. At the end of 2018 I was blessed with a Daytona C. A month later I purchased a SD43 that had just gone into the case after another customer rejected it. Mix in a few jewelry items for the missus and here I am. I believe the biggest factor for me acquiring sought after pieces is not my spend history, it's the trust and mutually beneficial relationship we've established. They know I purchased for my personal enjoyment. I'm no where near one of their big fish.

Congrats! Any tips on building a AD relationship? I just moved to a new area with a small family owned AD 45 mins away. Haven’t been in yet as I am still saving up for my first purchase. I currently want the RG YM on OF. Not as hard to get as your watch but still looking for any tips. Thank you.

My AD is also a small family owned business. This is how it progressed with me:
As soon as I moved to the area, I went in to put my name on the list for a Daytona C. I told the SA I was new to the area, loved Rolex, what I had, what I wanted, etc. Met the owner the second or third time I visited and told him the same. I also made it clear I wasn't a flipper because the market was heating up and I didn't want to be "disqualified" since I was a relative stranger.
I then physically visited the AD about every 6 or 8 weeks to see what was in the case, talk watches and generally just keep myself in their subconscious. I didn't bother with calls or emails. They get enough of those.
Along the way we picked up some jewelry items for my wife for special occasions which didn't hurt by any means. If I wasn't into Rolex, we would have still shopped for jewelry at the store for my wife because they have a very nice selection so it never felt like I was trying to spend some mystical amount to garner favor.
I've become friends with the SA. I'm not a huge spender but they know they are my go to place for jewelry and that the watches I purchase are for my enjoyment. Maybe I'm naïve but I think they actually enjoy selling to customers who enjoy what they purchase for what it is.
Sorry for the long winded response. Good luck in your quest to acquire what you seek.

Great advice and congrats on your new purchase. I’m laying ground work for my first watch at a small family owned AD as well .
