What happened? 16610LV selling for 18,500???

Board tonight so I checked e-bay and looked at the rolex sub LV 16610 aka kermit. It has been selling for 18,500 cad and people in for the for sale section are asking 20 thousand and up. I also see a 2003 version I think F serial that went for 48 thousand. So it has been years since I posted here and really cared or looked at rolex. I have the m serial lv. I recall everyone saying back in 2010 that it would never do more then hold its value as it was a modern rolex. What do people say now? Is e-bay buyers nuts? Or is the sub lv 16610 really worth 18,500 cad. Either way I paid 6000 for mine at an AD in 2010 and never plan on selling it.

13-14K US seems to be about the going rate. So yeah, 18.5 CAD is about right.

It’s worth what someone is willing to pay....and yes they are paying big....but then again the watch is already iconic...

It's a watch with all the modern awesomeness - SELs, fat hour hand, maxi dial, no holes and without the maxicase and giant clasp. A black insert in it and it becomes orders of magnitude cooler than any ceramic offering. All in one watch. It is for Subs what the late serial 16710 does for GMTs. It pees on them. And isn't being made anymore.

Various dial / bezel combinations on this watch so value differentiation based on limited supply.

But only to those willing to pay Rolex watches 16610LV stopped being watches when all this internet flat four hype started, and today many buy the hype to wear.

The late serial 16710 pees on earlier 16710s?
Or the 6-digit ones?

Oh, man...

If you’re reeling from that price inflation - don’t peek at the PP Nautilus blue dials...
