Surely a Fake GMT Master II?
Dear all
I am new here, it's a pleasure to meet you. I recently came across a GMT Master II on eBay. I saw that it was being sold with papers so decided to check it out. When I looked the pictures I realised that something wasn't quite right... it seemed to me that the hour markers on the dial were not aligned and the font / quality of the lettering seemed poor. Would be grateful for your guidance to continue my rolex education. Perhaps I'm just being extra. |

Welcome. As above, we can't be much help without pics. An auction number would also suffice.

Everything about eBay and PayPal is setup to protect the buyer. It's a nightmare of a forum to sell on more than anything. Without paying for a store they take 10% up to $750. PP takes another 3%. It doesn't matter what the person's return policy is. eBay/PP makes them accept returns.
The same reason trusted sellers on here will only accept PP from buyers with good references. No offense, but a ton of people on TRF think post count = credibility. OP: Just use common sense. Most large dealers have eBay stores. Does the seller have a history of selling high dollar watches? It's hard to build a good reputation as a seller on eBay. If someone says they found it in a storage locker, inherited, whatever....walk away. NO ONE has a $10k watch and doesn't know what they have. Last edited by tvandevelde; 15 May 2020 at 04:36 AM.. One thing I forgot to mention.. Smart sellers will have excellent pictures and very detailed descriptions. Save yourself some $. Find a way for you to get in touch with them outside of eBay. PP offers you the same buyer protection. No sales tax (most states charging it now on eBay. Plus you can put it on CC for extra protection, miles, point, cash back, etc. Yes it's against their policy so don't be obvious about it through eBay's messaging system.
I put my email and phone number in my pics and description. People still message me all the time asking what kind of deal I can do directly through PP. I try to politely steer them into reading the description, again without making it obvious. I figure if someone is serious enough and a legit buyer, they'll call or text. eBay will threaten bans, but the most that's ever happened to me is a 7 day ban. They get enough out of me in seller fees. I'll post an example of how I do it. Apologies to mods if this is not allowed. I'm not trying to make a sale (don't care if it doesn't sell). I pay for the pledge membership and the watch is also listed here. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rolex-Sea-D...cAAOSwVp1etFiC |

Seems like this thread got kind of hijacked into a sales pitched for how great eBay. Wouldn’t touch it with a 10 foot pole for a new and common, Tho expensive, watch like this, which can be found in abundant quantity by trusted sellers here who transacted in millions of dollars of Watches sans problem
