Rolex Service with aftermarket bracelet

I am curious if anyone knows what Rolex policy is surrounding aftermarket (not replica) bracelets. If I sent a 16710 in with an aftermarket lookalike jubilee bracelet, what would Rolex do?

My assumption is that Rolex will ignore it, I assume they aren't going to attempt refinish or do any work to the bracelet and it may get sent back with the bracelet unattached. Does anyone have experience here?

Obviously the safest thing to do is not send the bracelet, clearly, but do they have an official policy on this or has anyone experienced this?

I’ve had similar questions if I send in watches on rubber straps to ensure they don’t polish my original bracelet.

Would they want to replace it with the OEM item?

In the first instance I would say ask an AD or RSC. That will tell you. And you can share.

Leaving the bracelet off also sounds logical.

It's been a while since I sent anything to Rolex but in the past they would refuse to service the watch unless you purchased a new Rolex bracelet...This I know because it happened to a friend of mine some years ago...Things may have changed but probably better to not send the bracelet...

What exactly is the difference between aftermarket and replica? None in their eyes. Take it off the bracelet and just send in the watch head.

I've done it before...no problem....they will only take the watch without bracelet.
I put into service center my blue sky dweller because of sudden stop.

The difference is that aftermarket could be a jubilee style bracelet but totally unsigned. A replica bracelet is basically a fake bracelet with Rolex signature on it.

They will take it off, and return it to you off and untouched, along with the serviced head.

^This. I believe if you have more than three unauthentic parts (3 strikes) they will refuse service. Better to just leave bracelet off, especially when they won't reattach it anyway.

Policy is that it doesn't get returned and will be destroyed. With the 'option' of buying a new bracelet with the service.

Do the RSC’s differ So much in their interpretation of Rolex ‘policy’?

I know of one instance where an old DJ was returned to the owner by the RSC in Melbourne Australia with no explanation except for an ‘unable to service’ note?
No destroying, no options...nothing.

Yes it differs greatly, especially on different continents.

What about something a little more complicated? Let's say I acquire a genuine watch but for some reason it has an aftermarket bezel insert, or a crystal. Will they refuse to service it or just replace the parts?

They will not service it unless you agree to have the parts replaced with OEM.
