Incoming - finally pulled the trigger

Been eyeing the Batman for a long time and finally decided to pull the trigger.

Paid 13k for a 2018 full set - which seems like an ok price?

How would you rate the condition on this? 7.5/10? No dents or anything but scratches from daily use it seems.

Also, when did Rolex started changing the boxes to the bigger box?

The larger boxes only come on PM models.
Where did you buy this? The rehaut and date window A/R coating look a bit off to me.

I won’t begin to pretend to be an expert on the wear/tear of a watch and how much scratches would affect aftermarket price, but compared to Chrono24 prices it seems fairly reasonable. Like the previous poster mentioned, the large boxes are for PM models. However, my AD was out of medium boxes when I got my Exp II so I have a big box for it. AD also messed up the date on the warranty card when I bought my sub, so there are always exceptions to the norm.

Thanks. Interesting, my brother bought a Sub date in 2015 and friend bought a Sub date this year and the latter has a slightly bigger box.

Posting a few more pictures. Bought it locally (outside of US). Owner had a receipt from Bucherer and all seemed to check out. Are the pictures off?

Looks to be in great shape.

If you bought this as a full set and you have the white hang tag, it should “s” for small box. That doesn’t necessarily mean the AD follows the instructions though

Congratulations, enjoy it

The white hang tag dictates what box Rolex intended the watch to come with - what box you actually end up with is completely at the AD’s discretion, although they will normally try to follow protocol wherever possible.

You are correct to a point regards which watches come with S, M & L boxes, however the SS SD43 for example, now comes with an M box where as the first generation models released in 2017 were designated an S box but this was changed as the box doesn’t close properly due to the watches thickness.

SS Deep Sea models are designated a L box, again due to their thickness S & M boxes don’t close properly.

There is a 4th size box XL which is reserved for Platinum models & some factory Diamond dial/bezel models.

Looks great to me, I think the first photo was just not a typical angle so it threw things off IMO.

Congratulations on the purchase! Wear it happy and in good health.

It might just be the angle of the photo but the cyclops looks slightly larger than I remember on these watches. Congratulations! Love the Batman

Congrats — if any of that scratching bothers you fear not, because this is a watch that can definitely be polished back (lightly) to near new perfection ! Enjoy !!

And to answer your question I may be off BUT I think Rolex/ADs starting using medium boxes for
Stainless steel models from 2018 on up

I’ve got medium boxes for all of mine .. (all purchased brand new from AD)

Correct, Rolex is using medium boxes for stainless models. I just checked the tags in a couple of my boxes from 2019 and the tags say oyster m.

Congrats, it looks good to me! I’ve had an ad give me a bigger box than was “supposed” to come with the watch. My DJ came with the large size box and even had the paper sleeve outside with a label for a WG Daytona on it, so it’s really just up to them. Not weird at all to see a different box imo.
