Incoming! BB58 Navy Blue + Pics & Thoughts

When the BB58 Blue came out I thought it was pretty great - especially for someone on whom the modern (which is now a little less modern) Sub just never quite felt right. I read every article on it and watched every video. Loved the watch. I did restrain myself and think: just wait a little while to make sure you really do like it and aren’t just taken in by the Internet hype.

A month later I knew the love was real. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I however got hit with a barrage of wait lists from a local (and beyond) shops - none of who I have any history with.

Today, two and bit months after it came out, I just happened to see on Facebook that a local jeweller has just become a Tudor AD last week. Rang them this morning at 11.49am, they said they had stock in as they only just became an Tudor AD, and by 1.00pm I was wearing the watch.

I purchased it on the suede / soft touch strap as I’m planning of wearing it on NATO’s anyway. Figured I’d save the £200 bracelet premium and order a bunch of different straps for it.

On my 6.75inch wrist it looks and feels (in the words of Goldilocks) just right. Love the colour, bezel action and just general size. A couple pics with it on the Tudor strap (which I must say is a looker with a very cool clasp), on the couple of NATO’s I had at home and some pics of it next to the original BB58 and my 114270

A couple of side notes
- they had two in stock so if anyone in the Nottingham area is after one on a bracelet - it’s still available!
- all stickers, tags and associated paraphernalia were left on the watch and in tact. To be fair I’ve not even taken them off yet. I read on here that an AD insisted on taking them off on a recent Tudor purchase.
- The store manager was wearing a very nice Aquanaut which caught my eye. Wonder if he had to wait long for it
- Tried on a Grand Seiko Snowflake while I was there. The dial is incredible but the watch didn’t really sing to me. Possibly too big for me.
- Current state of the collection below. Between this and the Explorer I have most bases covered. Time to sit back and enjoy what I have before I no doubt begin the quest for the next piece...

I’ve already ordered an orange rubber NATO and a Marine Nationale style green and yellow one. Looking forward to just changing the straps on this depending on what takes me on any given day. I like how my Explorer looks on straps but man, changing the bracelet in and out is a really stressful affair!

This watch is so fun and makes me smile. Will post more pics on the various straps once they arrive.

well done - that strap looks awesome

i bought mine on the bracelet in early July and it has had a lot of wrist time since

i had a gripe with a local AD and they agreed to get me the Tudor Nato free of charge as compensation - picked it up today and the watch looks amazing and is so comfortable to wear - not cheap but very much worth considering

Thanks all for the comments - pleased to be part of the BB58 Family.

Gavaldo I got the case from The Case Farm. It’s a Pelicase and they charge a little bit more to include the foam cutouts perfect for your watches. Various sizes and I thought the 10 was good for me. They have 3,6,10 and 24 I think. https://www.thecasefarm.co.uk/watch-cases/

timlaw thanks for the heads up. I tried the Black BB58 on the Tudor strap and thought it felt great. Had they got the blue with the strap I’d have gone for that. I did ask how much one would be but they didn’t know and put in a request for me. Will see what they come back with

Reinhard in SA which straps did you order? I think it’s going to be addictive to keep looking for straps. So far I’ve ordered an orange rubber NATO, green with yellow stripe and a sandy coloured one which I hope will look like an old Tudor Sub strap.

Here’s another pic on the Olive Green from yesterday. Cheers all

Congratulations and thanks for the thoughtful review too!

Nice collection too! Can’t go wrong with the Casioak, Sistem51 or the classic 36mm Explorer! If you find the Explorer stressful to changing the bracelet out for straps, you should consider swapping it for the 14270 with lug holes. Difficult to find, as there aren’t many out there, but definitely collectible.

My AD has called me to say my BB58 Blue / Navy has come in, so I can’t wait!

Congrats , well-deserved effort!
I got mine a few weeks after it was announced (on bracelet) and have same wrist size of you.. I have to say that I think the proportions of the bb58 case are near perfect and better than the SubC (I say this as an owner). It’s such an enjoyable watch to wear. Hard to rotate it off my wrist.
Enjoy yours , congrats !

Agreed. The Black Bay 58 case makes the slimmer lugs of the new 41 mm SubC look like a contestant on The Biggest Loser.

i just picked up the Tudor nato (free to me as compensation for an AD cock up) and was told UK RRP is £150 - having seen the strap on the watch and how well the watch wears on the strap i think it is well worth the money

Thanks for the info. I’m definitely getting the fabric strap so I can change things up when I get bored with the bracelet.

i bought my tudor GMT on the nato and due to the depth of the case a nato type strap does make the watch feel top heavy on the wrist - to the extent i bought the Tudor bracelet for the GMT at £600 and that watch wears better on the bracelet imo

no such issue with the BB58 blue due to the case being much slimmer

the bracelet and nato will get about equal time i suspect

Thank you. Am slowly building The Casioak is one of my favourites - initially got it for a trip abroad and just love how durable yet handsome it is.

I never quite understood the drilled lug-holes thing until i came to changing straps. Now i do! That being said the 114270 marks a nice occasion and I don't think it will ever leave the collection. Hopefully the BB58 scratched any itch for me to change the bracelet on it.

Congrats on the call from the AD... i look forward to the incoming post
